Moon Cake

Mid-Autumn Festival is coming(falls on September 30th).I present you with the Mooncake, the traditional festival food which is eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival. This cake usually has a circular shape (diameter about 10 cm) or square (side length of about 7-8 cm), 4-5 cm thick, does not exclude the larger size, even giant [1]. In addition, the moon cakes are also many other designs but more common is the type of the pig with cubs, fish ...
According to my knowledge, there is two types of mooncake. The traditional cake is usually composed of a thin shell (thickness less than 1 cm), made †‹†‹of wheat flour, little flavor, wrapped blocks of very sweet and slightly oily, most of the cake ingredients are made of lotus seeds, sugar coated winter melon and peanut while modern mooncakes is a big improvement of the design and the cake ingredients.Instead of using egg as transmission gear blank, it could be green beans, taro, ham, spices such as: coffee, chocolate, chocolate, fruits....Especially the appearance of jelly moon cake like new selection for the Moon Festival.
In my local place, people buy this kind of cake in every years during the festival for the purpose of donation rather than to enjoy. How about you?Have you ever ate a mooncake?
If so, do you like it?

My housemates are all asian and thats where I heard of it the first time. Im still not entirely sure what it is though. In Danmark, a moon cake is basically a semi-circle pound cake with a lemon icing (a "citron måne").

love eatting them with a nice cup of mid dark kinds of tea. My fav is red/black bean paste without the saltly duck egg yolk. I swear, those are just so pack of Calories. lol
There are many types that i think that is just tooooo rich for me. But that is why you eat them in really small portions.

Spoiler:
Had several of them few weeks back, I couldn't find any of the "lotus ones" that weren't under $30 a tin. SO settle with the mixed nuts. I prefer the traditional one but mixed nuts with cup of coffee will hit you like a brick of slumber (well for me at least)
but from what I've heard, the hand made ones are by far more worth it. Just need to find a local Asian bakery
