Mountain Climbing

I climb regularly as a hobby, and I was wondering if anyone else has tried it? This thread is just for stories, notables, anything to do with mountain climbing.
Also, tips and hints would be helpful :)

I went mountain climbing with my dad last year and the year before we did El Capitan last time and on our other one we did Half Dome
El Capitan
Half Dome
Half Dome was easy because we wanted to see the scenery so we just took the trail it took about 13 hours round trip. it is 17 miles and we stopped to rest our feet.
As for El Capitan sense we actually scaled it that took us like 4 days. We were used to rock climbing but the face has no were to rest so all we could do is basically hug the wall and try to sleep also having about 10 gallons of water each on our lines didn't help. We also kept about 15 extra safety hooks. And a shit load of bolts. Also we had about 80 granola bars and 1 snicker each for the end.

Awesome! Longevity, youre even cooler in my book now! I've thought about El Capitan, but none of my friends have the balls to scale it with me. Even guys I've climbed with before said that they wouldnt do it :( I think this Summer I'll try to get a buddy to go with me.

I am gonna be honest I cried some of the time out of sheer terror. That climb really get's your heart going and makes you appreciate life that much more. Also when like i said hug the rock when you rest it may not do much. But it makes you feel safer and make sure you have a space blanket. I have have gone on many rock climbing adventures where people didn't bring space blankets and were crying because how cold it is. Also if you have rock climbing shoes, get new ones for this trip. You want ones that aren't to worn out and I would put some Dr. Scholls in them.

^ Haha thanks for the advice :) My friend and I just climbed Mt. Rainier a few months ago. THAT was tough, it was so cold at the top that we could only stay up there for a few minutes.

I used to live in Alaska so I wanted to climb McKinley or Denali which ever you wanna call it, but every time we went we would get snowed out and wouldn't be able to begin the summit.

I'd like to go rock climbing, I think the closet mountains from where I live are in Pennsylvania. Although I have no one brave enough to go.

Its always good to have someone with you, you DONT want to climb solo, Ive had some life threatening situations climbing solo. That brings back some seriously scary memories.
But rock climbing can be really fun GuGu, just dont start out with anything too difficult :)
