My broken computer

The sound on my computer isn't wokring at all, speakers OR headphones. It really creates a problem because I need it for a french class. What might I do to fix it?

the most common problem is the vol control is on mute or turn down.
the sound card could be tweeking or broken...
corrupted drivers can be the problem it hard to say with out looking at it personally.

Here's a list

1: check for updated drivers or driver issues
2: if you have a dedicated sound card, check it in another pc to see if it works. if it does its the slot its installed in(read: replace your mobo). if it doesn't replace the sound card.
3: if your working with integrated sound then your kinda boned. Get a new sound card and disable the integrated one.

Your problem might just be it's not set as default if your on vista right click your speaker box go to playback devices and set speakers as default

When that happens on my laptop, I usually restart it and the volume comes back.

A tip:
-The drivers could be corrupted. Remove the device from the device manager, reboot, and manually add the drivers on the next startup in case the system can't do this on its own. This will reinstall the drivers.

If nothing else works and you need a quick solution, buy an external sound-card. Costs you only around 20 euros, and works just as fine.
