I'm in Japan right now because of an emergency deployment of another unit screwed with our timetable. It's not that nice here. I can speak enough Japanese to get by, but they treat me with a kind of silent disdain. They are not outright mean to you, but you can tell they do not want you there. Then again, maybe its just because I'm military. I hope that's the case

I hope that's the caseI imagine not having a week in recent memory that a american military member do something horrible to their people might influence that a bit, plus you probably stick out like a sore thumb even out of uniform as a military member. It's unfortunate, but it seems to be in the news feeds I have for japan a lot. Just a guess though.

Well, japanese pride or not, it's not like you need to fit right in to fit right in. There should be plenty of Gaijin wannabe-otakus who moves/want to move to japan.
I know I would like to live there myself, but I hopefully won't have to move there all by myself.

A liltle advice from you..no, an advice from my japanese lecturer actually. He said if u wanna make a wife better look for other places other than Japan coz jap girl is very very materialistic...not like the older days or in manga...lolz. The way he said that make the whole class laugh.

Most people are materialistic. I could say the same thing about Californian girls. Some aren't t but because of personal experience I tend to think so. I'd have to go there my self to say if most are/aren't.
I really want to move to Japan to start my career in art and to find a Asian hotty.

Japan is not as good as those books make it seem.
In fact, it SUCKS!Especially if you lose your passport.
Also, the last thing Japan needs is immigrants. They have problems with their own people.
