My Laptop (the family's really) got water damaged (by my sister) but the HDD is fine and I can connect to my computer,
I want to know if I get any laptop will i be able to put the HDD into it or will this be a bad idea, checked Google some say it bad some say its no problem
Am only asking as it has some software that was installed from a CD but can't find the CD and can't find it online

Even if the HDD appears fine, it could still have moisture trapped in its housing making its operation unreliable in the long run. Backup the important data ASAP.
The most important thing about data storage is not speed or capacity, but reliability. If you're gonna use the laptop for anything that you want to preserve (i.e. work) I'd get a new HDD.
Also, if you buy a new laptop it's warranty will cover its own HDD it came with, but not the HDD you might swap out.
If you're certain the HDD was never immersed in water and neither did water have a chance to seep into the housing through the air filter than it should be good to go... but unless you're buying used, whatever you buy will come with a HDD on warranty so I see no point in swapping.

The HHD looks fine and didn't see any sign that it came in contact with water,
All i know is that my sister she split water on it,
The laptop does not turn on, i have put the charger on and the light to say it charging comes on but if i pull the battery out then no light come on.
I have tried to turn it back on with the battery and charger connected but all that happened was the fan came on a 1 sec later went off.
what i was thinking was just to buy a cheap second hand laptop of eBay and plug the HDD into
on a side note, is there way to clone a HDD including the OS as i have found laptop for £270 that has no OS

"Cloning" (using programs like Norton Ghost or Clonezilla) is possible, but the OS is only gonna work if you use it in a machine with identical or very similar configuration (same MOBO) and as long as serial used for activation wasn't tied to a specific machine.
Since the water damaged laptop is dead, at this point you might as well disassemble it yourself and try and dry it out and check for damage... maybe you were lucky and all that was fried was the GPU.
I know it's little use so late now, but the thing you *DON'T* want to do after water damage is try and turn it on. Doing so can cause short circuits and damage the components. What you wanna do is disassemble the thing and let it dry so such a thing can't occur.
