NHL season 2011-2012: looking ahead
0
Well things didn't go as I'd hope the past stanley cup run.. but time goes on, and the next hockey season will start next October.
As the title of the thread says, let's look ahead;
What can our favorite team(s) do to improve this year and go further into the play-offs (maybe even win the cup)?
In my case, I think the HABS need to get rid of:
-Roman Hamrlik
-Jaroslav Spacek
-Benoit Pouliot
-Andrei Kostytin
Harmlik and Spacek are both 37 year old defensman. They are past their prime, slow to move/react, out of breath a lot of times and cause various errors that cost their team goals/chance to score. The only possible advantage I'd see in keeping them would be the powerplay..
As for Pouliot and Kostytin, they had to prove themselves and didn't. Especially Kostytin, after Kovalev left he's been struggling and just doesn't do what he could be good at; Crashing the goddamn net and look for rebounds. If they got rid of Kostytin, then maybe give Pouliot a 1year contract, put him on the 2nd line and give him one last chance.

Penguins need to fix their powerplay desperately. Lack of rebound chances really kills them. They dance around more than go for the kill. They tried fixing it last season and that was a no go.

There's nothing better than knowing the first game of the season is only a few hours away. The Leafs got a lot faster this season, so they should be a lot more fun to watch that previous seasons. I also believe in Reimer!
And as always I couldn't get any tickets to the game. You people living is smaller markets are lucky. It's hard and expensive as hell to get decent tickets here.

Kind of Important
A ray of Tsunlight.
Naturally, I'm busy all day of the season opener. All I have to go off are are highlights, thus I'm none too sure how well we played.
I suppose the score has to speak for itself for now. 4-3 over Vancouver.

A power play goal. so all in all I'm pretty happy. But I'd have liked to see them dominate the game more. They did so early on, but then the Canucks took it to them the next two periods. Fleury is a lifesaver as always.
