Not being inherently assertive = Beta?

I've been wondering about this for a very extended period of time now. Does not being assertive (Not always taking charge, Lack of aggression, etc) Truly equate to being a "Beta"? Just because someone doesn't always take charge won't mean that they are inferior to others right? So i'm curious what is everyone's thoughts on this?

Yeah, that's called being beta. No one is saying that's inferior to being alpha. Well, no one who matters anyway.
