Novel, Film or Game?
Best story telling device?

Which of these three mediums is the best for telling stories? Which one is the best for immersing the audience in a tale and getting them to feel what is intended?

A book can go into great detail, a movie can give you that visual aspect that some don't have an imagination for from a book. A game gives you both the detail & aspect along with the ability to control some outcome for the end result. So really, it depends on the person, because I myself would rather watch a movie or play a game to learn the story. It's hard for me to find a book that captures my interest.

I'll say that the best medium is Film, just because I can't stand reading books and video games have to focus on the game play just as much as the story not that most do(Modern Warfare 2 cough).
So I would have to say that the best medium is film because there are a lot more people who can't stand reading then can't stand sitting through a movie.

There is no best amongst these. It's all dependent on how you do it or what you're doing. Some things just tend to work better if done in one way than another.

Like Ramsus said, there is no absolute best. It's all about your personal preference and how you go about following through with those preferences. I personally enjoy story telling through games because they allow me to interact directly with the game creating fleeting moments of realism in them whether they be fiction or not. =]
All of this, of course, completely depends on whether or not the story is engaging enough for me to achieve this effect! xD

Novels always take longer but I want to know more about the chaacters espeically if it is a who dunnit.

The novel. It gives beautiful and grotesque impressions of sight, atmosphere, and sound, but a high level of interpretation is still left up to the audience.

I voted for Novel. I enjoy reading books while imagining the actual scene of what I am reading, but watching it in film isn't so bad either. But reading gives me that feeling which is truly enjoyable in my part.

I think the novel is the best at what it does. It's not bound by length, whereas movies can only be so long, and it doesn't have to worry about giving you gameplay (a lot of games manage to screw up either the story or the gameplay, making the player suffer, even if one is perfect). Also, it's just the author and you. You don't have to worry about shitty actors ruining scenes or saying lines the wrong way. You imagine the characters and their environments your own way, and you're not distracted by whichever gorgeous hunk or beautiful babe is supposed to be the average person.
