Offline flash problem

So I used to be able to play downloaded flash games and files on either Firefox or Internet Explorer. But about maybe a half year ago they suddenly stoped working on Firefox. I couldn't find a way to fix it so i just stated to using IE even tho it was annoying. Today i tried to fix it again but now they wont even work on IE! Whenever i try to open a file it opens the browser but asks me if i want to download what Im trying to open on my computer. This makes no sense! If anyone can remedy this I will love them forever.

Try http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ ?

Reinstalling that is what made internet explorer stop working with them.

Not a solution, but a workaround (sorry): try FlashOffliner?
