I think my mother was about 34-35 (when she had me), the reason why I find this topic interesting is because the chances of conceiving a child with chromosomal abnormalities (down syndrome, unfortunate mutations etc) rise exponentially during your thirties (let alone getting pregnant in the first place). In addition it has been a growing trend for women in this day and age to not get children early on in order to build a career and what not, obviously.Any thoughts on this disturbing revelation?
Not sure what you reading, but that's just plain wrong. They do NOT rise exponentially throughout one's 30s, though they do increase with age. Most doctors consider it safe for women to become pregnant well into their 40s - and some have conceived much later [though we can probably all agree that the risk factors in general do go up]. With proper health care, child birth well into the 30s and 40s is safe. My daughters were born when my wife was 32 and 35, both with no problems.
Your post sounds as if you are implying that becoming pregnant in ones 30s is some how irresponsible - I suggest you check your facts a lot closer.
i'm leaning towards wcsinn's point of view, but i would like some citation before commiting to one side or the other.
my mom was 33(edit: she turned 30 three days before i was born) when she had me, and i have a brother three years my junior.
I am pretty sure I have some chromosomal mutations, and the leading cause ought to be my mom's age (among other less significant factors), or simply a matter of bad luck (less likely). The point I am trying to make is that Wcsinn is simply wrong by ignoring kids growing up in this day and age with severe mental illnesses like ocd (me) bipolar etc. worsened by their mom's age when conceiving. Wcsinn is simply an ignorant fuck to be honest, Just wait til your kids grow up then you will see for yourself (wcsinn). I am turning 18 soon and mental illnesses usually arise during puberty, in other words these mutated genes have been activated just recently so even though your kids (wcsinn) may appear as healthy young lads, it may just be about to change AND BLAME THE MOTHER'S FUCKING AGE WHEN CONCEIVING YOU IGNORANT FUCKTARD!

I completely forgot how old my mother when I was born
(I was not close to my own parents)
but I think that time my mother was between the ages of 30-35

My mother was thirty-nine, less than two months from turning forty. It never really occurred to me as being uncommon, and slightly taboo, until I was older. It never really meant anything to me. Except that I have friends who grandmothers are younger than my mother. :P

Well my kids are grown up
2. You're 'pretty sure' you have a chromosomal mutation .. they have these things called doctors, if you go to one you wouldn't have to be 'pretty sure'
3. Sorry, I didn't realize your were an authority on genetics, molecular chemistry and medicine - my bad. I should have known right off simply by your superior writing skills and firm grasp of basic manners
4. I'm the wrong, sick, etc one - but seems I quoted authoritative sources and you - well you made some plain ol' guesses and went on a rant - again, my bad.
5. Excuse me - thought you might actually want to learn something, not simply find somebody to agree with your opinions - regardless of whether they were correct or not.
Good luck - you obviously need it.

"Plain ol' guesses" ?? Go fuck yourself..Sorry dude, but you are making statements about scientific facts - not voicing opinions. The facts are just that - the facts. The facts aren't going to change because you want them too.
BTW - OCD is NOT a chromosomal abnormality, do a little research.
