Organ?

Just curious, does anybody here know how to play the Organ? I myself don't know how to play one, but I've always had an odd fascination for it, and like to picture myself wearing a long cape and a mask playing menacing organ music in a mansion in the middle of the night.

Well an organ is just a piano that gets it's sound from the movement of air
through different pipes. So it is simple for me to play one.

Technically speaking, yes, but I'm pretty sure that they have several foot pedals that you need to make use of as well.

Those foot pedals are actually a keyboard... I think. That's what it looks like anyway. Don't forget that there are knobs. Don't know what they do though.

Well any instrument I've picked up I could play except for the sax (I could not blow one note).

Also give proof you can play oboe and french horn.

I used to play the Alto Sax, up until the end of Middle School, because I lost encouragement because the replacement teacher we had during my last year of middle school HATED children, he was constantly yelling and criticizing the students, and I'm not exaggerating either, he even stated that he never wants children. I was extremely depressed that year, so I gave up on it.

You misunderstand. I never said I can play any instrument. I said any instrument I have
picked up I was able to play. I didn't say I can play every instrument and where did I
Say I could play the clarinet? I have never played one in my entire life.
I am more of a Keys, Percussion and string sorta person.

Organ is quite different from piano. It has multiple keyboards and you play with your feet as well as your hands. You also have to operate the stops to change the modes and sounds the organ plays. Organs also don't play different dynamics or articulations based on how you strike the keys. Organs can, however, sustain a note indefinitely so long as you hold down the key. Thus, a lot of organ music is more contrapuntal than piano music and may feature very long sustains while other things go on.

I played piano for 12 years, so I could probably pick up on how to play an organ pretty quickly, even though Ive never tried it.
It seems like it would be a fairly interesting instrument to learn, although its definitely not the prettiest instrument...

Funny, I just re-met a fellow who is running this project:
The Anywhere Organ
which is apparently up for a grant at The Fun Theory
... not to plug him... but I found this relevant. It's a cute idea.
