OS's that replace Vista Basic

I'm fucking tired of Vista slowing and ruining my day, is there anyway I can get a different OS? If you can help that would be really great.

Give Ubuntu a try. You don't even need to install it to try it, just burn a CD/DVD image, boot it and it works (off the CD/DVD). After installing you can even dual boot it along with XP/Vista/7.

I'll say what @KrystalFortuneTeller said get Linux if you don't want to buy RAM for your computer, because Linux runs real well on a small amount of RAM. But if you add 1 GB of RAM to your PC Vista won't be all slow anymore. :)

Used to do stuff
Windows 7 because if you couldn't figure this problem out by common sense or just using google then linux is too much of a challenge.

To be honest I reckon Vista is better than 7 but supposedly 7 and XP uses less resources than Vista but 7 can use directx 11 so either XP or 7 will do.

Easiest way to learn is to play around with it. Besides, the Ubuntu community is rather supportive when it comes to helping new people learn the basics of their new operating system.

If it's one thing I've learned it is that people are usually not nearly as willing to learn something as they say they are.

(...and live CDs/DVDs are a Godsend for this purporse). For some people it just "clicks". Others find that they can do pretty much everything they want, right "out of the box" (so to speak) so they don't *need* in depth knowledge...
...while others find out Linux is not for them.
...or that it's not easy enough to learn yet.
...or that it still can't run any games they love.
But without at least giving it a look, all they'd have is a superficial impression from what others have told them.
Bottom line: It's free, it doesn't take much time and it may be (a) solution. Even installing XP takes more time and preparation.
