I don't know. Every single "otaku" I have ever met has been a condescending douchebag who think his opinion is superior because he watches and eats japanese shit.

Hence why Otaku is in quotes..
Also.. Most otakus are literally fucking Land mines; One wrong move and boom.

For me, it goes both ways. Met some nice otakus who suggest stuff to watch and read and cool to be with.
Then come the douchebags who are elitists and always making their "BEST ANIME" as the only stuff worth watching and saying everything else sucks. Hell, some guy I knew always made statements like "DURR TRUNKS>>>VEGETTO" and "VAMPIRE HUNTER D IS UNBEATABLE!" and even went on tirades to insult my favorite anime and manga.

Anime Otaku (not meaning the ones that focus singularly on one series) tend to be more kind because of multiple reasons, 1 of them is that anime does often have a moral in it that does carry an influence on us, 2 is that in genre when anime has a series that is a tragedy(and Anime Otaku do look at almost all the genres), that tragedy is one that cuts really deep because the creators are people that build the character from the ground up and make that character one that carries an impact on the viewer (ex. Air).3rd is that Anime Otaku are indeed criticized often(not as much in other countries as Japan) because of our habits because of this when we meet someone that we can think of as a friend we come to really value that relationship and person. Lastly is that the term otaku does not actually mean to be greatly drawn to anime it actually is a more vague term that can be described for a person that has an interest in activities that can be done at home, as well as used for just about anyone that has a strong interest in a hobby be it cooking or martial arts.

I dunno....surely otaku may SEEM nice by nature, but have you ever been inbetween one and some merchandise it wants? I have, and the scar on my arm has yet to show any signs of disappearing. Then again, it could just be that I have overbearingly bad luck cause I know some good ones as well. It depends.

This guy has a point I mean I consider myself an otaku and the one rule I go by is 'you don't fuck with me I don't fuck with you"
