What we all have to consider is that Bioshock, unlike most other video games, is incredibly story, theme, and atmosphere-driven, all of which can lend towards a greater cinematic experience should it indeed be adapted into a movie. My joy in playing the game laid not in its combat aspect, but the truly awing narrative and its characters. You can't compare mindless, clichéd action-based plots like those of Resident Evil or Doom to Bioshock's, wherein thought-provoking sociological themes, psychological turmoil, and unexpected twists of the non-Shyamalan kind reign supreme.
Edit: So really, Bioshock has the potential to be made into an honest-to-God film rather than a cash-cow toting the name; it will all depend on the directors and actors, people who I dearly hope will NOT FUCK THIS UP.

Edit: Nevermind. Hasn't been cancelled, but is on hiatus because people keep dropping out of the project. Hopefully that means they will give up.

Even if the game has a good story, the writers won't stick with it and will make something completely different.

This is REALLY old news, like over a year old. I think it is going to be awesome though, along with the Kane and Lynch movie and Uncharted movie coming out.
