Power Japanese - Learning the Basics

Power Japanese is a fairly old and yet amazing program that the English community can use to learn the fundamentals of the Japanese language. Unlike other programs that try and zoom you through the learning process, teaching you certain phrases or how to carry on a short conversation, Power Japanese expands on the idea that an adult mind is better suited learning something new from the fundamental parts of the subject at hand. Working on a learning tree basis, it first teaches you the syllables and lettering while providing you with on-hand native speaking, both with a mixed style of male and female vocals used. It then expands onto larger topics. The real reason I've fallen in love with this program, is that it actually teaches you how to learn Japanese. You not only come out of the program knowing the alphabet, pronunciation and a few basic phrases and sentences, but you know you how to further your understanding and enrich your vocabulary by yourself, without the help of other people or programs. Understanding starts at the beginning, and from there, you can work your way to the top with a bit of time and dedication. Also, the program is very explanatory, it will always give you a reason for what it's teaching you, and so far every one I've had is completely logical. And one other thing, you'll be learning Japanese with Japanese, not Japanese with English(You'll see what I mean once you get a bit into it), so, this way, you'll have your Japanese independent from your English.
So far, with about 6 hours spread between 3 days, I've learned how to pronounce and write all of the Kana symbols. And I can pick out each of the syllables and sounds in a regular conversation and tell you what each one is(nothing too, too advanced yet, but it's definitely a start!)
There is a reason I haven't spent hour after hour on the program, even though I have the time to do it. But if you do download the program, I will emphasize that you should only spend around 1 - 3 hours a day studying and learning, 5 hours max. Even if you think you have a brilliant mind, if you just rush ahead through the program, you won't give your brain enough time to memorize and digest the information that's coming through to you. Though it's okay to spend sometimes around 5 hours/day on the program, when it tells you to take a break, take a break, sit back and run everything through your head for 5 minutes and then go back to the program. Remember to review everything you've learned, and have a pen/pencil and a piece of paper ready to practice writing Kana symbols or jot things down.
This can be something to do in your spare time, or something for you to get into seriously. By the end of it, 8-12 weeks or so, you should be able to read, write, and speak enough Japanese to get by if you ever went to Japan for a trip. My CS Teacher recommended me this program, and I thought after raving about it and getting people excited about it in IRC, that I'd share it with the rest of the community. I'm not too sure where else this thread could go(I'm kind of figuring the user upload section is for Hentai Only, but, in any other case, just move it to the right section if this isn't the right place.)
Enjoy.

Yeah, this thread would belong in the "other" uploads category. Thanks for the program though, I'll be sure to use it.

Curious and Wondering
Thanks for this, I'll benefit from this greatly since I only manage to attend my language classes every two weeks. :D

Uh... I just downloaded the program using the megaupload link and it is 35 mb not 10 mb. Also when I opened it up the text was all in German, I think, and shortly afterwords my security software detected a key-logger virus called "IAmBigBrother". Once I got rid of the key logger, the install file was gone. So I'm assuming that this file is actually a virus in disguise. Hopefully this was just me.

Also, you should remember that that is an NTFS upload, if you're running FAT32/FAT16 or other compression formats on your hard drive, the file size will be either larger or smaller. So far Kaspersky hasn't come up with anything, and I've scanned it 10 times. This is an old, old fashion program, the installer may or may not log the keys pressed. New Anti-Virus engines may detect older programs as key loggers. I will run it with a few more scans, and by the way, you need to post an output log of the virus detected, just so some of us, especially me, can tell if you're just trying to scare people away from the program or topic. I'm not implying you are, but it wouldn't be the first time that someone has done this. So, if you can, get a log and post it here so I can be sure that you've actually detected something.

Update: Removed the Megaupload link. Not planning to re-upload it, if someone else wants to PM a link. If you have anywhere else you've uploaded it to, PM as well, or post it in this thread.
The MU download was corrupted, download it off MediaFire if you got the wrong one.

Interesting program. But I think I'll stick with taking the classes to learn Japanese. I might give this a try though.

Sorry about being late on this.
Uh... as far what little anti-virus I do have, it's an AOL spy-ware detection software called "AOL Spyware Protection" that I've had on here for who knows how long. As far as the other stuff, you lost me. I have no idea what an output log is. All I know that happened was that after I tried to run the install program and exiting out of it, the anti-spyware software popped saying that it detected something and had blocked it. Then it showed me what it was, Name: "IAmBigBrother", Security Threat:Keylogger, and something else. Then after I deleted it, the install software was gone. So me not knowing very much technical stuff about computers assumed it was a virus and felt I should let others know.
