Question ? Was palistine always occupied by palistinins ?

I keep hearing all these diffrent things about them always having the land before british and united nations gave the people of Abraham the land of palistine or like part of it. I was just wondering who owns it or should own it.Also Isnt jeruslam Teachnically a jewish city ? Plus why dont The Isralies and Palistinens work out some sought of peace treaty or have that two state situation that I keep hearing about ?
The killing on both sides rescently is heart breaking and just plain annoying in genral, there should really be peace I mean how long can a group hate anothere for .Seriously have peace and move fowraed for a better future for both and all parties.
