How come they always have to reuse ideas for movies such as "Alice in Wonderland" and they have to go and make remakes of movies like King Kong?

now if your talking why does hollywood remake old movies;its because many had no idea of the original movies as they came out a long time ago asw ell as producers/directors have their own vision/idea of how they want the story to go...and lest we forget, as a cheap and easy way to milk a few dollars more from a classic brand
now as far as alice in wonderland is concerned,i'm actually looking forward to it as i'm a big tim burton fan as i've always enjoyed his style.

Short answer: They want money without a lot of brain power.
Long answer: What bunnyboy said, about people wanting to do their own thing with a popular series or movie
My opinion of the whole mess: There don't seem to be a lot of great original things coming out, so why not have remakes? For example, the movie Gamer has a pretty original story, but it looks like a generic action movie. PASS. I would rather see Halloween 2 by Rob Zombie, and that's pretty much a remake.

It's really hard to come up with a new idea and execute it right. You may have a great idea but it's hard to make the movie support it. Instead, they can just make a remake and not think about any of that. Almost everything has been done already and this is an easy way to make a few bucks since the original already had a fan base.
