Russell Brand

Now that he's making waves in the States - and no doubt pissing a few people off - I thought I'd post a recent interview which shows what he's actually like outside of shit-tier stereotypical films like Arthur, and his madcap but average comedy.
I'm not a huge fan, but this honestly had me captivated. The interviewer, Jeremy Paxman, is the most distinguished in the country; he regularly rips politicians to shreds. Look him up on Youtube for examples. But Brand has such an unbelievable vocabulary, fluency and clarity of ideas...he just takes Paxman along for the ride. I knew he was intelligent but this is something else, really changed my opinion of him.
Seriously, just watch this. Especially if you don't like him, and only clicked on this thread to make that known.
And if you do, feel free to post some of his stand-up or whatever, obviously.

wow - Thanks for sharing this. I have never liked Brand, neither his comedy or the man himself. I mean, I normally like comics which test the boundaries (i.e. the Chaser), but like doswillule pointed out, his comedy is madcap, but average, and I would like to add "average at best". I was a little disgusted about that phone stunt, but thought it was blown completely out of proportion. None of my opinions of the man has changed after this interview, I still think hes a person I would dislike, but I have a tiny bit more respect for him.
Some of the you-tube comments (e.g. "Although I do not find Russell Brand's comedy funny, it is refreshing to see that he is very intelligent") are quite true to me, I feel. I didn't really expect to see his answers to be so fluent and fluid, which is quite nice in this day and age when mindless celebrities seem to be the norm. Though I still cant shake the feeling of disappointment, that with that wit and intelligence, he could be much more than he is and has been...
