Basically, you pump away at the chest of a sudden cardiac arrest victim with locked elbows at 100 BPM, 2 inches into the chest, making sure to remove your hands from the chest after each pump. You don't have to be certified, so you aren't going to be held responsible if they die anyways.

Any one know any other tricks that won't get people in trouble for trying to help?

Yeah, I'd check your local laws. Some places have a "good samaritan" law, which would keep you out of trouble, but other places do NOT have such a law, which means it could get ugly.

They've started teaching CPR to school children in the UK now so I guess I wont have to worry as much about some 18 year old repeatedly whacking me in the chest.

I would make some funny comment about a method used for saving lives but I feel like someone would take it seriously and there'll be somebody's blood on my hands because of it.

CCC is great and all, but I'm not that into walking up on a victim that's just been pounded on for 20 minutes.
Most departments teach CPR. Call ahead, the class takes a day and lasts (two years?).
Reminder: consent is implied on unconcienseness (posted from a phone, sorry). HOWEVER you still need to ask the parents (if present) when dealing with kids. You wouldn't believe the irrational overprotectiveness some parents suffer from.
Oh, and sorry for the oneupsmanship, man, you know I love ya.

I know you can pull someone from a vehicle after a crash if you feel their life may be endangered even if you shouldn't be moving them and just don't know it.

Seriously though I have been certified in first aid by first, the Los Angeles Fire Department and now by the Nashville Red Cross. A caveat. Even though you are protected by Good Samaritan laws, you may still be open to a civil suit by the family of the victim you saved or attempted to save. Check with your state or country. Some state's and Countries have no GS laws)

I remember an accident two years back where the victim was in horrible condition. Out of curiosity I had to check it out though. Many people were in a panic and when I was asked if I knew CPR or had a phone to call the ambulance I told them...
"Yeah I'm certified in CPR but only from 2007 to 2008 and my phones a sprint. No free calls til after 7pm so goodluck with that."

Its not about me caring about another persons life... its about me avoiding the situation where I can potentially pin for the death of the person on myself.
Regardless of good Samaritan laws if the person dies while I am attempting to keep him alive for the ambulance to intervene I will be wrecked with guilt for the rest of my life. I cannot handle that hovering over my head... think I'd go insane from it.

                        I never learned CPR.
the only way for me to help without getting in trouble is calling an ambulance.

I took a course of it at the university. I also know what to do in other kinds of emergencies, like Electrical stuff, Fires, Gases Exposures... etc...

In my country( Canada ) we have laws to protect good Samaritans, and the general rule is life over limb. which means that if they or I am in any immediate danger,( were on the street, train track etc) then I am allowed to move them without getting in any trouble. Of course if they are conscious you should ask for permission or ask them to move themselves. If they are unconscious then it is considered automatic consent. or so is my understanding.
