Sick & Tired of 3-D
0
Am I the only one who's tired of every other movie in theaters being in 3D? Seriously, didn't we already have this fad? And didn't it die the death that it deserved?
Are people really entertained by shit popping out at them? Is that really so cool?
I feel like I can't go to the theater anymore without 3D glasses. Which really sucks, because one of my eyes is shitty as hell, and I end up not being able to see shit.
But what really bugs me is that movies are coming to DVD in 3D. Does that mean that I will always have to wear a pair of 3D glasses when I watch the movie? I don't know, but if it does mean that, then I'm not buying any of those DVDs, no matter how much I want to see the movie.
A couple of weeks ago, I heard some movie-making guy say that 3D was going to be here for a long time, that movies had to find a way to be different and get people's attention, so they wouldn't just watch TV. I wanted to punch the guy, because that logic is stupid as hell, but at the same time, I thought, "Well, I might never go to the theater again."
So, does anyone agree with me, or am I just acting like an old fart who hates change?

Bitch moar, or, you could simply ignore any movie that has to do with 3D. Maybe 3D is popular with kids and shit, but the change depends on the demand. Apparently, the theaters/producers/whatever(the cocksuckers watching the trends) had noticed the rise in popularity of those types of movies and are making more of them. Maybe they're thinking like the dumbass you mentioned and are trying out how having more 3D movies will work out for them.
Personally I hate 3D movies since the glasses fuck with my eyes. The moment I put on the glasses I notice how uncomfortable it is for my eyes to see things "differently."
If the DVDs are anything like the one I have, then the 3D movie part is optional.

You make it sound like the theaters are lousy with 3D movies, when there are actually only a select few; most of them, as stated above somewhere, directed at little kids. I found the concept of 3D movies droll at first, but once I saw one, it felt very 'meh'. Mostly, you would have some scene directly catered for there to be something that pops out at you, with little other reason for the scene to exist in the first place. After seeing that maybe once, you get tired of it, so it is not surprising that you are are steeped in rage. I get that.
I wouldn't be too worried though, and I say that because I saw 'The nightmare before christmas' in its recent 3D re-release. It was clear from the start that the movie wasn't meant to be in 3D. The effects were subdued, things didn't pop out nearly as much as they normally would, and after a while you had to wonder why you were wearing the damn glasses to begin with. Great movie though. And why was it great? Because it wasn't made for 3D. Movies that are for 3D are generally bad and gimmicky, and despite the fact that they will be around for a long time probably, I wouldn't let it affect your general movie going experience. You won't be seeing stuff like Godfather in 3D anytime soon. ...although that would be funny.

Are people really entertained by shit popping out at them?I don't quite know why it happened, but as I read that... scat came to mind. I suppose it was the "shit popping out" part.
But getting on topic, I never cared much for 3D movies and never really hated them either. Actually, when it comes down to it, I never even saw a movie in 3D. That's probably why I don't have too strong an opinion on the matter. I've seen the 3D red/white/blue glasses of course, in person a few times (and at random places), but never actually watched a movie with them.
Anyway, as Rbz pointed out and you mentioned, there may be people who have noticed 3D movies are gaining popularity and so now we're seeing movies in 3D more often. But hey, like Tsuyoshiro mentioned, there are some movies that you probably won't be seeing in 3D anytime soon. Lol Godfather in 3D. I'd assume the main movies that we will see in 3D are going to be movies that are made for a young audience.
That said, you probably don't have to worry about much.

If I remember correctly, this whole 3D thing started with My Bloody Valentine, a horror movie. Now, with The Final Destination, it looks like my fears are being realized - horror films are hopping on the 3D bandwagon. (Thankfully, it seems that FD will also have a 2D release, "in select theaters.")
Thinking about it, I have overreacted a bit to this 3D fad, seeing as most of the movies that have come out have been aimed towards kids, but I'm upset mostly because I believe that 3D won't stick just to kids' movies. It could spread to horror (the signs are already there), action, sci-fi - everything that could possibly use it.

ok heres the thing, movie directors and prodcers and people in the industry of movies who want to make a quick buck are endorsing 3D so they can make even more money. now that the economy is in the shitter, what better way to get more money then to sell a blu-ray movie for $60 and add a pair of 3D glasses that u probly hav to pay 4?
the thing is, no one needs more 3D. it was cute 4 a while, but now that there is such thing as blu ray, arent things as real looking as it gets? if they seriously think 3D makes everything better, then they hav the wrong idea. i was thinking the same thing when i saw this new kids movie called shorts in 3D: "wtf is up with 3D?"
we really need to look into this and tell some influential person that 3D is just overdoing it, and to stop.
