I don't like the idea of dual GPUs - too much heat. This heat in turn makes you upgrade your cooling which can be expensive or noisy depending on how you go. Cool n' Quiet for me.
ATI vs NVIDIA is basically this: ATI generally outperforms NVIDIA and is slightly cheaper but NVIDIA has Physx and CUDA. Then again, there aren't that many programs out there that actually use Physx and CUDA so the wise choice is to go with ATI if you value your money.
Also I don't understand how people can up and buy a $500+ GPU and then immediately sell it off to a friend and get a more expensive set up.

i was thinking of getting water cooling in the next bit, so that would cover the heat. But mostly so i can OC everything without worrying so much on over heating.
Thx for ur input :D
Guess if anything ill just hold off till this comp isnt so great no more if im gunna run duel gpu. Plus my Hdd is the noisiest thing in there, everything else is nice n quiet lol

if money was no option, I'd definitely go for tri-SLI setup. Just don't do it with 480 GTXs though; best if you wait for 485 or 490 to come out later this year cause from what I read on pc websites, the new nvidia GPU runs cooler, lower power comsumption and more powerful than ATI's 5970s. tessellation is the future of pc gaming as far as I'm concern and Nvidia has the edge over ATI.

ooo yea, i know someone who is running 3way with 460's or 470's cant remember lol
i do like things that run cooler :) this thing [470] is crazy hot lol. thanks for the input :D if the new cards are crazy pricey ill just sell this off get 1 and slowly collect :p but then ill need a new mobo... prolly only go as far as duel for now

The Iconoclast
SLI can be pretty noisy on fan cooling due to the heat your system will be pulling.
If you go liquid you can get as many cards as you want and wont have heat or noise problems. Right now I am running only 1 gtx 470 on air and it gets pretty loud in its overclocked account. Planning to get a full liquid set-up next summer when I pick up a second card.
