Spoiler:
Just because the applications are being developed, doesn't mean they'll be close to a retail release any time soon. Surely you understand the effort and time that goes into making good, robust apps.
As far as it goes, that is still ImperialX's opinion supported by facts or not. I know from personal experience how long it takes to develop an application for any operating system if you plan to produce something that has a higher level of quality. It would be especially difficult to try and develop an application that can compete with iMovie. As it stands right now, I don't see anything that can match it's level of productivity and ease of use coming in the near future for the Android Operating System.
I myself will be getting the 4G. why? Let's face it, if you have the money to pay for it I don't see reason not to go with the iPhone over any other mobile device. It simply goes above and beyond what other mobile devices of this current day and age can do.
But do you need all the features of the iPhone? This is what I don't understand and why I consider the iPhone to be nothing but a status symbol. How often do you actually use all the extra options on the iPhone? So far I am loving my Blackberry on the T-Mobile network because I have yet to find anything that I want to do not being available. Obviously this is just my opinion but I see no need for the iPhone(and for that matter android).
There are many things I could use the extra features on the iPhone for, will I use them? Probably not, but that's not the point of owning it. Yes, it is partly, and let's not be shy here iPhone owners, using it as a status symbol. But more than that, the iPhone is an advancement in technology that I am willing to support. The more features the better, because who knows when you actually might need to use said feature.
If we stick to old technology we will never be able to move forward, that's just the way it works. I am very happy to see mobile devices progressing towards a future where they will not just be phones that have many apps, but mini-computers that can be perform a variety of tasks in every-day life, eventually replacing just about everything we need to bring with us in our daily tasks.
As such, I will support Apple with every step they take until they no longer produce the best mobile device on the market.

Ok I can understand where you are coming from but until the US Cell market opens up we will be way behind other countries in cell phone technology. Right now how much would you have to shell out (include the 2 year contract) for an iPhone? Is it worth it? Yes I hope they keep pushing the technology forward but I see no reason to actually own one.

Personally I like the HD2 because it runs WM6 and i HAve a Touch Diamond tha runs wm6.5 and you can install alot of proprietary applications on windows mobile. and it can handle alot of file formats and has a file explorer very similar to windows explorer which is not present on iOS or Android that i am aware of.

The only problem is that WinMo6 is a dead platform...it has no future. And seriously, if you get an Android phone or an iPhone, you'll realise how limited WinMo6 truly is.
And iOS's Air Sharing's UI beats the WinMo6 explorer, by far. Android also has a file browser that's pretty well developed.
Also, I have yet discover a format that WinMo6 can open but Android cannot.

Since AT&T's network decided to take a shit in my area for the last couple of weeks I've been eagerly searching for an alternate solution and I think I'm going to go with Verizon. With that I'm now focusing on their market and I've come across this phone that should be coming out July 15 which looks really good: The Motorola Droid X. Its basically the iPhone 4's rival. It has 720p video, 8MP camera with mechanical shutter, micro HDMI out, 3 microphones - 2 of which are for noise cancelling, wi-fi hotspot (your phone can act as a wifi access point for up to 5 devices to connect to its internet), and 8GB onboard flash memory with a 16GB micro SD card preinstalled which can be upgraded to a 32GB one if you wish. PCWorld has a good tally of the differences between the two in this article which comes with this handy reference sheet.

I'm going to test out their network in my area with one of their free phones until this comes out and switch to that if I am satisfied. The call quality of AT&T has never been good here but lately since they released the new iPhone and decided to upgrade to 3g in my area it has went to total shit. My somewhat frequent dropped calls now happens a lot more and the silences mid-call happen a lot more as well. Its not just me either - my brother who lives about 6 blocks away is having the exact same issues on a brand new phone. He was outside grilling and I was out on the porch and the call got dropped 3 times in a row and we had to resort to texting. He even took his phone in and they had the SIM cards swapped out and they are still having the same issues as before. Sam's Club has no restocking fees so I could basically swap phones and carriers each month to try them all out while only having to pay the usage fees. Also this NY Times article is a good read.
Also, the recently announced Samsung Galaxy S is now the new big kid on the block. It has 720p video capture capability, video conferencing with its front-facing camera, 4G, a slide out keyboard, and its Samsung Hummingbird processor is said to be the fastest smartphone processor in the market. Also, its super AMOLED display saves on battery life while still looking good. It comes with a big internal flash drive (8 or 16GB) and has a micro SD slot capable of holding up to 32 GB. The only thing its really lacking from other phones like the Droid X or HTC EVO is an HDMI out jack for video output. All in all its a very good phone. Also, just about every carrier out there is getting this phone, albeit with a slightly different name and specialized for the network that it is on.
Here's a nice vid of it:
I'd add the Samsung Galaxy S to the front post but I'm getting a "Undefined variable: front_page_able" error when I try to edit it. Editing the other posts works fine though =O

I just got my HTC Incredible in the mail yesterday (after waiting for almost a month because it's so heavily back-ordered), and I love it so far. It's fast, has decent battery life for what it is, and it was a huge upgrade over my dying 4 year old Motorola Krazr lol...
I don't plan on upgrading anytime soon, especially since I just renewed my 2 year contract when I bought my Incredible, but Windows Mobile 7 is looking to be a pretty cool phone OS too.

I added the Samsung Galaxy S and changed all the phone links to their specific spec page. Man these phones just keep rolling out.

Went out and got the HTC Evo yesterday. On it right now actually. Working while at work is for pansies anyway.
I'll go into detail of how much ass it kicks later on.

I'm perfectly fine with my nice Palm 700p, arguably their last good device (except the 755p) before they remade the OS entirely.
It can do a lot of things phones today do, but with dated hardware, it has trouble keeping up with the more advanced calcutions that newer phones can perform.
But I can still play my GB/GBC/GBA/SNES roms, as well as Doom, Quake and Duke 3d just like all you haughty android phone owners!
