My dear 88 ... to get rid of a habit, one must not be feeding the habit. The other alternative is replacing your snacks with something more healthy.
I suggest making a goal, 21 days without any of the snacks, because it usually takes 3 weeks for the habit to wear off. Also, most important, is drinking lots of water, usually that feeling you get in your gut fools you by thinking you are hungry, when it fact you are thirsty.
I am now on this project too, 3 weeks without chips, I replace it with crackers instead. Apples are GREAT SNACKS, you feel great eating it, and it satisfies your stomach's hunger between meals.

Stay occupied with something, but if it's healthy then there is nothing wrong with having a snack since it does increase your metabolism by having less large meals. However, if you are always active to burn it off then you have nothing to fear.

If you find it to hard to stop snacking, eat healthier snacks like fruit (personally I prefer bananas and kiwi fruit over apples).

I think having healthier snack choices are the best way to go
I've pretty much replaced my chips/chocolate snacking with crackers (unsalted), bananas, oranges, water (sometimes)
a good alternative is popcorn (hot air popped, NOT microwave, without any butter/extras)

I remember how I quit my habit of snacking. I just ignored my hunger to snack and either drank something or ate something healthy.

[size=14]I'm never going to stop snacking. I live on snacks. That being said I had to stop for a few months due to a hospitalisation (due to something completely unrelated). Exercise helps keep your mind off it. Having slightly larger meals than normal and eating 3 times a day works as well. [/h]

If you are not particularly strong willed I'm gonna tell you, Drinking water and just saying no isn't going to work for you. Do you like granola? Eat Granola fella it's good and it good for you.

I only snack when i'm -really- bored. Way I got around it was just drinking a cup of green tea or having a glass of water whenever I felt like snacking. Just think, you don't NEED to snack and you'll be upset with yourself if you do.

I have a snacking issue too D:
Sometimes when I want to snack, I'll either drink water, or find something healthy to snack on like fruit. I like to keep bags of frozen fruit in my freezer, makes for good snacks ^^

I don't really have a problem when it comes to snacking excessively, I just drink water hold myself over.
But if I WANT a snack for a game, I'll get grapes if it's a slow paced game, candy makes me REALLY hyper, so only for special occasions.

I find myself snacking sometimes and feel the urge to do some small exercise like squats or strolls to burn the energy around the house. Think positively, like 'if I'm gonna eat this cupcake/banana I'm gonna spend some time off of the laptop to stretch out my legs and cool down my eyes.' I think that's one reason why I never get fat, because I feel terrible after not doing anything and snacking so I would perform another task to compensate.
