Thanks for all of the info, everyone. Another question though: I've never played a Bullet Shooter game before. Is there a certain game that is easiest for beginners to play, or am I just going to have to tough it out and learn? It's tough and you need to learn it. There is no Touhou shooting game that is easy for beginners. But of course every shooting games has their level. So you can just choose "easy mode" then when you starting to get it, you can try a higher level.
Easy as that. Hope you'll have some fun
Ah. Glad to hear there's an easy mode. I'll definitely be using it.

I've actually been wondering the same thing for a very long time, and eventually I understood some, but that little bit wasn't enough to really tell me what it was. I just knew that it was a bullet-hell game (one that looks incredibly difficult, might I add. Lol.) and that it gets an ever-expanding plethora of fan art (many of which are amazing).
Since I love the art that people do of it, and I've seen many, I kind of understand some characters' personalities (if they even have official ones), as well as their designs. The pages upon pages of fan art, tied in with its immense popularity, not to mention it's a bullet-hell game and I love those, makes me think I should try it out myself. Especially if it's getting an anime eventually.

The only Touhou game I've played is Perfect Cherry Blossom. I enjoyed it, it's hard, but not as tough as I would expect. I can't play any of the fighting games because CrossOver game won't run them. Also, I can't get the English patch to work, so I'm playing in Japaneses.
Touhou RPG thing I made a post about: https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=52955

Acquired SWR a few hours ago, still trying to learn how to play. This game was surprisingly easy, I was prepared for something like Melty Blood; Act Cadenza x100. But this is actually quite fun. But as I said earlier, I've only played the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil before, and there I couldn't make it past lvl 3 on easy. D:

So, I was able to get Embodiment of Scarlet Devil...but I have no idea how to shoot. I figured out how to move, but I just end up being blasted by everything. Can anyone tell me what key is shoot? (Dumb question, I know). ><;

Not gonna help,
I would take an example like in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil.
Easy Mode will always lead you to the bad ending. And Easy Mode will still look tough for certain players.
I would recommend you to stay on Normal Mode and training in that difficulty.

For some patch, they will only extract the updated files after you double clicked the setup file.
So, you will have to copy the extracted files to the game directory and overwrite the old files with the extracted ones.
Twilight :
Look at controller configuration yet ?
The default key is "Z"

Hm. I'll have to keep that in mind, and I'll check out the controller configuration, too.
Edit: Alright..I just tried a level...
It's really...really intense...
I don't know if I can keep up the pace, even on easy...

Basic controls for the bullet hell games are:
Shift: Focus (changes your speed and shot style)
Z: Shoot
X: Bomb
Ctrl: Skip dialogue...
[EDIT] To just destroy yourself for fun, try Lunatic...

Also keep in mind that every character have its own specialty with their cards.
If you are a starter, try to get yourself a "Homing Bullet" one for Reimu (pardon, if i am wrong).
Learn to dodge and shooting at the same time.
[size=10]Speed is not everything. [/h]
Twilight :
Haha, it's okay .. nobody being an expert just by first tries.
I would say the gameplay is addictive .. so it worth to waste your time. Keep going.

Haha, true. I'll have to practice more after my eyes have recovered. So...many...colors...
And what are the items that enemies drop? Are they just stat increases?

[P] will change your shooting form to advanced ones (increase your shooting level). The higher it is, the better.
and if you achieve FULL POWER MODE (Max Power level). The bullets which enemies shoot will be converted to points token at the time. It will also give you the ability to "Magnet" every power up and point token whenever you move to the upper side of screen (remember, it's dangerous).
[(Kanji) ] one is for points.
Get some of it and you will got a new life point. And i believe you understand how much life meant to Touhou.

Ah, okay. And yeah, I was able to pull of Full Power Once, but I can't figure out how to dodge the first major enemies bullets. They seem to go in a large, circular pattern, and I always seem to get cornered.

One thing Kona forgot to mention is :
SHIFT (Hold in usage) : brake, you use this to move slower than usual.
Maybe you think this is not a useful button ? But it will really really help you while dodging the bullets.
Get used with holding shift button while shooting.
You will find the game easier that way especially at the Boss part.

Yeah, I'm having trouble generally with the controls since I'm not much of a PC gamer, (mostly only play on consoles). I'll try to remember shift, but it's going to be hard for me to multi-task that much.

Just use Joystick in case you found Keyboard won't do you good.
Also, keep trying and train yourself in Normal Mode.
You will find yourself getting better gradually.
That's all the advice i can give.
Wish you luck.

lol. I actually meant if you knew any good online shops that would carry them. Yours looks pretty good, though. The PS2 controller was very comfortable. I'll have to look and see if they made an Xbox one, too.
