Got Megane?
My family recently found an old camcorder, few years old, and I've been thinking of using it when I attend a convention, I know how to use the camcorder, however once I have recorded all I want etc. I don't know how to get it from there to my computer so I can do what ever I want with it. So I am asking what do I need so I can transfer the video from the camcorder to my computer? If the model of the camcorder is needed I can provide it. Thank you.

The camcorder in question is Sharp Camcorder Model VL-E63OU, its an old videotape-based camcorder.
Thanks I'll look threw that. It'll probably confuse me a little more, sorry I couldn't be more specific but since I myself don't know who to do this, I don't know how to word my question accurately.

Well, in short, do you have any connector along with the Camcorder ? and what kind of port it has ?
based from the link i provide ... it must be
Firewire or USB port/cable ..
I think these tutorials are explainable enough .... feel free to bump this thread for more question ..

That's the thing we found the camcorder, battery charger but no other cables or anything, there's only one possible port, where above it reads Audio/Video, and it looks like its for some type of connector.

Then you need to buy the cable ......
now, the question is, what kind of port it has ? firewire ? usb ?
I believe you know how USB port looks like since you must have computer/laptop ... just see their USB port for reference
Based from that .. i am not 100% sure .. but i assume that it's firewire port ..
but i still confused about that Audio/Video ....
Look at this pic .. and decide which is the one more appropriate from that possible port ..

There's a flap over the port it says Audio/Video, here is a picture of the camcorder and the only port/place to connect anything.

It is not firewire nor USB port .. and if it is the only one possible ... then
Heck ...
i was missed your words that imply it's old .... it is analog camcorder .. my bad

Older camcorders may have specialized jacks or connectors for the computer. Camcorders that use RCA jacks for data transfer will need a special adapter for the computer's video card.Continuation wrote...
Use the analog ports on any older camcorder to connect to the computer's video capture card. You may need a small round S-Video cable. Other models use composite or RCA type connections. Here .. i select the ones which are the correct solution to you ..
You need to buy RCA jacks and special adapter ... i think that end the case ... hopefully

Okay thanks a lot, I'll look around and see what exactly I need, RCA jacks are a great start, I am sorry for taking up your time, but thank you so much for the help.

Eh, you might want to ignore me and listen to old jenkins...But do some research on some DVR's specifically made for computers. That's what I used to record TV shows from a cable box to my old laptop years ago. A video signal coming from an camcorder should be no different than one from a cable box. I say "should" be no different because I don't know what stupid copyright protection program that device and its software may employ. I remember the software that my DVR used prevented me from recording clear video of my Street Fighter 4 Street Fighter 5 matches off my PS3. So beware and ask questions to the personnel at the place that sells the DVR.
Also, I doubt any current DVRs (again, I maybe wrong) use regular Audio/Video ports that your camcorder may only have. The new DVRs use HDMI hookups so you might have to buy a composite (Audio/video)-to-HDMI cable. You can order from them online. https://www.radioshack.com/products/hdmi-to-composite-rca-converter-adapter?variant=20331791493
