Sony Headphones Wire Change?
0
So my sony headphones wire was bitten by my dog. Pissed as hell. So far, only the very start where the metal jack is that has been bitten, its not detached but more like chewed on. Is it possible to change or replace the cable and still make use of the headphones?

It would be easier to replace the jack at the end than to replace the cable. Unless your headphones are actually designed to have the cable replaced.
Buy a 3.5mm jack like this

-Cut off the chewed part of the cable
-Unscrew the jack
-slip in the exterior part of the jack on the cable
-slip on some heatshrink if you have some to increase the thickness of the cable at the stress relief section
-Strip about 10mm of plastic off the cable
-If your cable is actually 2 cables stuck side by side, you'll have 4 wires, 2 colored and 2 copper. If its 1 cable, you'll have 3 wires, 2 colored and 1 copper. The copper is ground, the 2 colored ones are left and right channel. In the event that you have 2 grounds, twist them together to make 1 ground cable
-Insert the ground cable through the ground lug(the big one on the jack) and solder it
-Insert left and right channel cables and solder them(left channel is the tip of the jack, right channel is the ring part of the jack, and ground is the base of the jack)
-Trim off excess cable
-Test cable
If you hear sound on both ends
-Bring up heatshrink and heat it to tighten it
-Bring up exterior part of the jack and screw it back on
Else post pics and I'll try to see where you went wrong
You can also follow these guides if you need pictures, but ignore the RCA sections
