So, Raimi dropped out of the project and Sony has decided to reboot the franchise. They're starting over with Peter in High School.
What are your casting choices?
Mary Jane = Molly Quinn

High school...? So what, now he got his powers earlier and has to deal with little mini villains like they are making Clark Kent do in Smallville? I don't like this. Still, if we're casting, I would pick Wil Wheaton for Peter Parker. A little make-up and a backwards cap and he can easily pull off the teen look.

Hopefully they'll just do what they did with The Hulk and briefly show what happened in the beginning.

Why are they even bothering?
I don't know anything about actors, so I can't say who I'd like to see in the movie, but I do know about villains. With the characters in high school, I'd say the best villain to use would probably be the Lizard. Have Connors be Peter's teacher, who uses the boy as a lab assistant, and then shit goes bad, and the Lizard appears. That'd be simple and enjoyable.

I too hope for the Lizard, though the Vulture might be interesting. Well I really doubt it could end up worse than the third movie so I'll probably still watch it.

I would lol if they did the OMD arc to explain the reboot.
Yeah, the Lizard seems like the best bet.
I think any villain would work as long as they did a short intro on how he got his powers and then cut into the present with him a few days under his belt with the super hero thing.
I actually wouldn't mind it taking place in High School as I'm a big Ultimate Spider-man fan. I would love to see Peter and Kitty Pryde in a relationship.
Haha, I just realized they could do the "Spider-man loves Mary Jane" comic adaptation. That would be so hilarious.

Raimi's Spidey was pretty good. The third movie sucked because he was forced by Sony to include Venom. They were going to force him again for Spidey 4 so he decided to leave while the series was still redeemable.
I feel this reboot is going to be purely to make money. The high school thing is to pander to the "tween" demographic. The "grittier" thing is to try and copy Batman, which is bullshit. Spider-Man is depressing at times but gritty it is not.
I'll still be waiting with fingers crossed though...

I just think it's annoying that they have to pretty much rewrite the entire character now. The first spiderman movie started out towards the end of his senior year, then he gets his powers, and then he graduates. For this new movie to have any sort of relevance, it would have to take place even earlier, so we move the origin, back further...which probably means some new origin story completely. ...they wouldn't do that, would they? Peter Parker running to school at the start of his freshman year with a piece of toast in his mouth when he accidentally runs into a spider-web and BAM.
Sigh. Or maybe this is pre-spiderman...when he didn't have powers. <_< yeah that's interesting.

It's not like his powers were age based. Getting bit by a radioactive spider seems like it could happen at any age.
I'm glad for the reboot actually. Felicia Hardy = The Vulturess....ugggg...

Could it really?! Do you know how often young people are even around radioactive arachnids? Not that often! And don't get your hopes up on Felicia, for all you know they're breaking out the third-tier villains for this one, like Stunner or Overdrive.

Well if you think about it, the original story had him start in HS anyways... I hope they do think about introducing some of the smaller characters and avoid stupid nothing ones like sandman. I would love to see Carnage as a major villain and perhaps shocker as a side villain.

They are basing the movie of of "The Ultimate Spider Man" I bet. I am disappointed in the choice of dropping some of the actors.

I think it'll also be in 3D, since 3D made a comeback.I hope not. 3D is such a stupid concept unless you see it at an IMAX theater. Then it's kinda fun.

Why Shocker instead of Electro? Shocker's just a guy with wrist things; Electro's made of fucking electricity.

Electro's a little bitch in the comics. Which actually makes me agree with you. He'd be a great warm-up villain for Peter in the first movie. And I think the main villain should be Doc Ock, and unlike the previous trilogy, they don't kill off all the villains and set up for a Sinister Six finale. I would love that.

It's interesting reading peoples thoughts about what villins they'd like to see, and I too would like to see the lizard. But what the hell, I say make him face Rhino right off the bat.
