I personally don't like Apple products except the ipods. I also did not like Steve/Apple because 1. He's a dick
2. Apple policy of restriction/secrecy is ridiculous and just plain outright wrong.
3. They think they're the shit.
4. Apple fans think they're the shit.
5. Over prices their shit and tweaks their products every year with claim of "All-new, revolutionary, buy-this-even-though-you-have-the-same-item sceme"
6. They're almost always incompatible with the rest of the world (technology wise).
I will admit this. I shouted hallelujah when i heard he died. Then i realized that was immoral and a total dick move and regretted i said that. But he's still a dick nonetheless.
doesn't matter if the man was a dick, he was a great inventor. He basically reinvented the computer. He was a smart "dick" by overpricing his shit because he knew people would buy it. People buy their overpriced shit and keep buying it and loving it. Their designs & the hype will keep them running strong for a long while.
personally i think we lost a great inventor and I'm curious to see how apple is going to run from now on.
i suppose. Perhaps i started not liking apple because of those idiot fans

Now, you hear a lot of "Steve Jobs changed the world" but I have to disagree with that. Every entity is consumed in a constant reaction of change, no, I can't disagree with that, but what I can disagree on is significant change.
Even down to the beginning of the creation of Apple, the man behind the machine was Steve Wozniak. Next, the introduction of the GUI. It was implemented by apple and marketed by Jobs, but it was still developed by Xerox. The rest of the story continues as such, and in Apple's current life, the technologies are either bought out from other companies or developed by employed engineers.
Jobs was a marketer, a messenger. We have a saying, "Don't shoot the messenger who brings bad news," or just, "Don't shoot the messenger." And yet, we're in this situation, you're praising the messenger for bringing something you enjoy, where, it was built and designed by others.
Yes, built by others: built by the sad Chinese lolis under child labour at Foxconn in sweatshops with horrible conditions. That is a fact.
But what was his message? You can still be a mindless consumer and pay outrageous prices for outrageously cheap products, and you'll be hip for doing it.

That is so quotable and I totally agree.
While it is a shame for someone of such high stature and authority has passed away, I have to admit that it wasn't him who advanced technology in the way that everyone exclaims.

In all honesty I don't kneel down to the man as my savior and visionary like a large portion of the population does. Sad someone died but I was not taken back by his death.
If anything I am just pissed that cancer has taken another human life.
But in the end......
PC WINS! PC WINS! PC WINS!

If only people cared about what really mattered, instead of the "new" iPhone or the messenger of Apple's newest "innovation" dying.
Not like there are wars, starving people, or corruption to ruin our day.

The ignorance is strong in this post...
When mister Gates dies he would have done more good in his death than you in your lifetime.

Well, looks like I was late to this one.
I think we can all just be happy that in this time of economic crisis, Microsoft hasn't been badly affected by the loss of Jobs.
And no, it is not too soon to make a joke. It's... too Zune
Now that that's out of my system, I don't think I will be too badly affected by his death. I don't use any apple product other than an ipod.
