Are you female? If so, all the guys I know agree that a simple tattoo has more of an effect than a huge one. My girlfriend has a Chinese symbol for Pure on her left side of her back where the heart would be. It's her vow to have a pure heart in her lifetime or something.

Why don't you get a word that has a meaning to you in Chinese symbol?

When getting a tattoo you guys should also think about what kind of tattoo you'd like to see on your body when you're older (like 50+). So I wouldnt really recommend anime related tattoos. And I know that you can remove the tattoo (if you have money) but at least to me it seems really silly to get a tattoo you really like at the moment you're getting it and then removing it like 5-10 years later. Waste of money, waste of the tattooers talents.

I've wanted a tattoo for quite a long time, but I dont stress about it. I either come up with something or dont. And I'd rather be without a tattoo than get a tattoo that really isnt me (or a tattoo that I wouldnt like when I'm older). And if I ever get a tattoo I'm going to get it on my shoulderblade, back of my neck (somewhere behind the ear, but just lower) or on my foot. That is if I come up with a tattoo that fits one of those places. But those are my favorite choices.

Just be sure to take your time when deciding on your tattoo. I'd been planning to get one for 5 years and just got it finally a couple weeks ago, with the design decided on back in February.
Make sure to give yourself some good ideas to choose from and then, when you figure out one you really like, give yourself some time. Search for a good tattoo artist and make sure this is what you really want.

As for ideas of what to get...what do you like (in more detail)?

To really compound on what Aki said, I wouldn't even consider getting a tattoo unless it's something that will hold meaning until the end of your life, and make sure you really want it. As in, wait at least six months and then see if you still want the same thing.

If you happen to be a girl, I have the best tattoo idea ever, but I think posting the picture would get me banned, so I'm going to err on the side of caution.

It's hard to find a tattoo design that won't make you look lame-ass stupid when it's still in your body by the time you reach your 60's. Gramps had a Jimi Hendrix tattoo, now it looks bad and saggy on his wrinkly reed-thin biceps.

Don't rush things. It's better to think deeper and wider. Tattoo is think must be something that is related to you, it's either event, people, interest, etc.

I just had my first tattoo last 4 months ago. I decided to put it around my wrist and it's really good. My tattoo is written in Alibata(Philippine first alphabet) and it go something like this "Godbless Philippines". It looks great and worth having. :)

You should get a tattoo of a unicorn with a rainbow behind it on your forehead. I doubt anyone would fuck with you because they'd be too busy trying to figure out whether you're gay or completely insane.

You should definitely put some deep thought into this. Just remember that people and their preferences change over time, what's cool to you now may not be nearly as cool in 10 years.

I've been thinking about it to though. I have nothing that means so much to me that I'll draw it on my body yet so I have no ideas. If i tattoo anything related to my hobbies or favourite musicians, then I would probably regret it in 5 years or so.
