Sumerian Legends/Ancient Astronauts

I don't know whether this would go into serious discussion or not. But...
I was watching something on the History Channel a couple days ago about "Ancient Aliens", and came across some Sumerian Legends. They state that Sumeria's "Gods" came from the heavens, called Anunnaki, and created the human race to be, essentially, a slave race. What we were used for was the extraction of gold, that the "Gods" would then use. There is another ancient Sumerian Legend about a Great Flood that the Anunnaki created.
I'm just wondering if anyone buys into that maybe humans were made to be a slave race and that we were genetically engineered from the Homo Neanderthalensis and the "Anunnaki"?
I'm also not trying to be some kinda of weird person that is obsessed with aliens or something, but I'm just curious as to what people think. If you think this is weird and don't want to answer, that is fine by me, but I wanted to get this off of my chest, and see what people think about this.
As for me, I don't believe in this. Not without actual scientific proof that there actually was something that happened like this.

I don't believe in what the Sumerians have to say about our creation, but I will admit that I believe that there is a slight change that life might have been seeded on Earth, either on purpose (biological engineering) or by accident (aboard asteroids or meteors).
I also find their legends interesting and the story of the Anunnaki and the Great Flood to be very interesting, if only for a good read, though they are always largely ignored due to the fact that many nuts out there are obsessed with them and believe that their legends are proof that the twelfth planet Nibiru is out there and will pass near the Earth in 2012.
What was the name of the name of the show? Although I don't believe in most of those old legends, I still find them interesting to listen to and think about.

Im watching ancient aliens right now, iv seen all the episodes and i really find the whole thing to be quite interesting. There really is a lot of evidence to support some of the theories, now i don't really believe the whole sumerian thing, but a lot of what the ancient alien theory says fits together so well with stuff that archeologist have found and to me it seems like some stuff can only be explained by something like aliens.
For example all the huge structures that have been built, the pyramids those big stone faces on easter island, etc, there is just so many huge structures that have been built that don't seem possible without some kind of machinery. I could go on all day about this but ill leave it at that.

Just like the Nazca lines in Peru, and the mile long line of holes as well (can't remember where they are)? The Nazca lines, if you look from air, looks like an ancient airport, imo. And Puma Punku and Pakal's sarcophagus?

Exactly, and the list goes on there's just so much stuff that seem like they have no other explanation.

The pyramids were built over a many years. If humans today decided to do the same, I'm sure we could get it done one way or another. It might not seem possible for them to have done it in their era, but that's only because we try to look at it through our eyes and compare what they had with what we have now. Don't underestimate them just because they had more primitive tools than what we have. They were no different than us and remember that stonework was their forte since those were the materials they had to work with for many generations. Over than much time I'm sure hey would have picked up some tricks of the trade.

There will always be people who don't believe in stuff like that. I just don't believe in it without actual hard evidence. Everything they say so far is just speculation and theories.
Edit: And I agree with Zero_Hour's last post.

I don't doubt the capabilities of humans but with how heavy each stone was and how big the pyramids are it just doesn't seem plausible to me. Regardless of how the pyramids were built that still doesn't rule out all the other evidence there is to support the ancient alien theory. A lot of people think that alien sightings started with Roswell and were not even mentioned before that but there have been sighting all throughout human history.

I accept that there are strange things to be found throughout history but who says it's proof of alien intervention in human history? There are people out there who claim that that same evidence doesn't prove that aliens exist, but rather that humanity is older than we think it is. Others say that it's proof of Atlantis and it's supposed advanced technology. Still others say that it's proof that the Earth is hollow and that the supposed "inner world" is home to an advanced race of humans that travel out from to poles in their advanced craft that we believe to be UFOs. What is proof to once train of thought isn't for another or can be interpreted differently by another group. In this case, the interpretation is that it is proof of alien existence in Earth's past.
Edit: I just saw that they mention the Hollow Earth Theory in the first episode of Ancient Aliens. Proves my point that different theories can be "proven" using the same evidence that that should leave only one theory standing.

I've watched the ancient aliens show, and I do find it quite interesting, and I think it is very possible for aliens, to have reached space centuries before mankind

If we were created to be slaves, then they're pretty shitty masters. They haven't made us do anything for millennia!

I was watching that same thing on t.v as well.If the given evidence on that show is true, I'd say its a possibility. I'm not 100% percent certain though.

I watched a few episodes of Ancient Aliens, its a pretty interesting show. I've often times wondered whether our evolution was manipulated somehow by an extraterrestrial influence. For four million years, the hominids didn't have any significant changes. Then all of a sudden, the homo genus appears. They made a drastic transition from hunter gatherer to burying the dead, advanced stone tools/hunting technology, making clothes, agriculture, language and eventually civilized culture.
They made such progress in less than 2 million years. Of course this can be accounted for due to our larger brain size. However, one must wonder what caused the hominid to make such a huge evolutionary leap 2 million years ago. Now factor in all the accounts of "spiritual entities" visiting and influencing the early modern H. Sapiens. Were these encounters all in their head? If so, then why were these visions so widely spread throughout the ancient world? Surely the encounters must have some truth to them if so many scriptures were written ever since writing came to be invented (*cough*bible*cough*).
Now suppose it wasn't all in their heads, were these "spiritual entities" actually spiritual, or extraterrestrial in nature? If they were spiritual in nature, where are such sightings now? Why have they been replaced by "UFO" sightings instead? Maybe (big maybe here) those spiritual encounters from the ancient world and UFO sightings from the modern times are the same thing, just interpreted differently. It would make sense seeing as the ancient world and modern world have completely different perspectives due to the gap of scientific advancement. I'd love to discuss this further, but this has already become a tl;dr post. Sorry for the wall of text.
For shits and giggles google "crystal skulls"....yeah.
