Supreme Team's Disbandment
0
This is a piece of Korean hip-hop vibrance that changed my feelings about the genre.
If you haven't heard these guys before and you like what you hear, I really hope you check them out.
On July 19, the great hip-hop duo Supreme Team officially dissolved to pursue their respective solo careers. Simon Dominic remains under Amoeba Culture. E-Sens, on the other hand, is leaving the label since his contract expired.
I was one of the many fans who anticipated their new album, after such a long gap of waiting for E-Sens' 1-year imprisonment to be over. (He got caught for smoking marijuana, but that's another story.)
E-Sens' post-sentence rhymes in "Poison" give you a taste of his bitter struggle:
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not sad because their careers will go downhill. They were strong, charismatic MCs in the korean hip hop community way before they banded together. They still are. Thanks to the gap period, Supreme Team has demonstrated both the diverse and continual growth of their individual prowesses.
Check Simon D's "Cheerz" below. A little reggae, a lot of jazz and bounce, pretty pole dancing.
I'm definitely sad. I'm sad that two awesome artists won't be able to make magic under a shared name. To me, it's not really a matter of better or worse, but a gaping void that was once filled by the signature Supreme steez. They raised the bar so high for other hip-hop artists that even their solos got better after working together.
May your music continue to reign Supreme.

Kinda sad that they're disbanded, best of luck to them.
