The last airbender

on rotten tomatoes, based on the rating, is worse than dragonball evolution. I was planning on seeing it but based on the reviews it's making me stay away from the film.

i heard it was good for special effects other than that i heard to save my money and wait until i can rent it

The movie sucked balls, if M. Knight didn't stick with his, in his words "traditional" view, this wouldn't have sucked. I mean wtf? The way they pronounced Aang's name was like the ending sound from Gong. No Kiyoshi Warriors? Seriously wtf. I didn't like that the firebenders needed fire somewhere that they couldn't bend out of thin air like in the cartoon. Also lol'd at almost all the white people populating the northern water tribe and the acters playing Katara, Sokka and Gran Gran. Thanks for killing Avatar M. Knight.

Apparently Shyamalan would like to do a sequel and even has the second film mapped out. He has said that:
"The third is more ambiguous, but the second one, I've written a draft that I'm really happy with and is darker and richer. And it has a wonderful antagonist in it in Azula, who's kind of like our only real, pure antagonist in the series, so I'm excited about that."

FUCK THAT. SOMEONE SHOULD START A BOYCOTT TO STOP SHYAMALAN FROM DIRECTING THIS MOVIE FURTHER. ALSO, DEMAND A REBOOT D:

Kiyoshi Warriors is what I'd have liked to see as well. Also they messed up on Sokka's name as well. Instead of how it's pronounced they did it like the beginning of Sofa

Heard it sucked. Got like 7%/100. Didn't watch, not going to watch it. Loved the cartoon show though :D

ok so i got dragged to watch it and it wasn't as bad as i had heard it would be. -shrugs- it was like a recap of the show in many ways. the only thing i really wanna see is zuko's sister( i can never remember that blue lightning psycho girl's name) in a few fights

Saw it today and it was horrible compared to the show. I know that they had to fit all of book 1 into 2 hours+ but its the small details that really make the movie shine and dim when comparing it to the show.
1. Fire lord's room doesnt look like a cheap observatory
2. The names of a few characters are mispronounced
3. "Oh my hes making fire out of thin air". Fire benders make not manipulate.
4. Where's the handicap kid from the north air temple?
5. "Sozin's comet will arrive in 3 years". Okay what happened to "It will arrive at summer's end"?
So many things are wrong and its really not worth the money.

I really wish Hollywood would take to heart the old adage "Don't fix what isn't broken." Karate Kid didn't need to be rehashed to pander to the minority demographic, Transformers wasn't even that great in its original form (nostalgia does NOT give a film/series substance), and who the FUCK ever liked the Chipmunks?
I mean, for God's sake, at least TRY to respect the source material. A good example would be Batman Begins and its sequel; while Ledger's interpretation of the Joker continues to irk me, overall the movies still encapsulated the essential themes that make Batman the legendary Dark Knight he is.
Shyamalan's portrayal of the Avatar series was lackluster, perhaps even disgraceful. I mean, I can understand that as a film it would have to constrain several episodes of character development into a couple of hours, but good God it felt as if there was no effort made to flesh out Aang, Zuko, or anyone for that matter.

Shyamalan removed the great humour and great characters and replaced it with awkward, dark, serious business ones instead.
Did I mention he fucked up the names?

The movie was a piece of shit. M. Night Shyamalan fucked up the movie so bad. They tried to cram 8 hours of the series into 1 and a half hours.
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN?!

Curious and Wondering
I watched this one with my girlfriend and her 10-year-old sister last Friday and... god, did I just waste money on it. The kid didn't even like it.
I found this one on Cracked, it was spot-on for this movie.

Just watched it myself. Yeah, it's a bad movie even on its own.
1. The performances from the main actors was subpar. With Sokka's actor being the worse offender.
2. Special effects were misses, such as the CGI creatures looked bad. Which is inexcusable since it has a 150 million budget.
3. The characters had little to no personality. Which is a major problem since it is suppose to be a character driven film.
4. Most of fight sequences are lame.
5. Everything was rushed. Using exposition for parts that should have been shown rather than told.
6. It has a continuity and logical errors, like a whole bunch of them.
- The fire benders don't carry touches so they could use to bend.
- Putting the earth benders in prison where earth is all around them with only set of fire to use. I don't know who is more stupid, earth or fire benders?
- One earth bender is able to quickly put up a wall of rock, but it takes seven of them to do a silly dance to move a small stone.
- The water tribe doesn't put out the fires around the city so fire benders don't use them even though they said they were going to.
- Zhao somehow knows that Zuko is the blue spirit even though he never saw his face nor heard his voice.
- Zuko is able to firebend without a source of fire.
The only positive I could say about the film:
1. Props, costumes, and Aang's tattoo were cool.
2. The actors that played Zuko and Iroh were decent.
3. Soundtrack was good.
4. Some of the special effects were okay like Iroh making fire.
5. Aang using water bending against the fire nation soldiers "300-style" was cool.
On a scale from 1 to 10 I'm rating this a 3/10.
