The Moviepocalypse

As a student of film, I understood a long time ago that we were heading into a dark time of cinema. The number of quality films released each month is on the decrease and we keep shelling out huge sums of money to keep the otherwise discarded projects coming. Sequels, prequels, pre-existing fanbases of novels/comics sees the same stuff released over and over again. BUT, I cant be hugely one to talk, as I have been known to side with them from time to time. There are certain novels I want to see visualized, but we all know of the series that has taken the fandom to a whole new level. No, I shall not rant, but I will just leave this here:
Lovers are gonna love, but at least wait until the movie is released before 5000+ people REVIEW it or say "Im SURE it WILL be AWESOME". Thoughts/comments on the state of films nowdays? Has there ever been a movie you knew you would LOVE even before it was released?

I knew I would love Kick-Ass the second I saw the preview. And I do, so that worked out nicely. I really thought I would love Final Fantasy: Spirit Within when I first heard about it...sorta wrong about that one.

I knew i would love Kick-Ass, The Hangover, and the recent Batman movies, cuz Batman is just that awesome. NA-NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA-NA, BATMAN!

Yes, film quality has gone down.
But then again, a LOT more films come out these days at a time than during the "golden age" of cinema, so it somewhat makes sense.

While I agree with you that more movies are being made now, with some 600+ hitting cinemas every year around the world, and equipment getting cheaper. This is no reason that big bugget companies just take the easy road and plop out pile after pile of the steamy stuff. The reason they do is because they can, standards are non existant now days and those who have them are ignored usually.
Which all comes back to my point, that your going to love it before you even go in to see it, its all about franchises.
Im not exempt from this either, I too knew I would love the dark knight before seeing it. I could also probably say it to a degree for Kickass, Iron Man 2 and most superhero/comicbook movies (the inner nerd struggles with the critic on a daily basis). :)
Lets add 'movies you knew you would HATE before seeing them' to the discussion as well...
