The special features on DVD's/Blu-rays
0
I re-watched "The dark knight" recently, and when I put the main disc back in the case, I realized that I had never put the second disc (containing most of the special features) in my DVD player. (yes, I still watch DVD's, haven't upgraded to blu-ray yet)
This made me want to ask you guys:
Do you actually watch the special features? IF so, then which? Theatrical trailers? Director/actor(s) commentary? Previews? Featurettes? "Making of's"?
When you buy a movie, do you buy that premium/deluxe/collector's edition with like...2-3 discs "loaded" with special features, or do you simply buy the standard edition of the movie?

Depends on the movie. Liiiike for The Matrix I got whatever cool "speical sets" I could. (Still need to get the 4 in 1 Blu-ray set) And for like Invader Zim and any Kevin Smith movie (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, etc.) I always listen to the commentary. It really just depends on how much I like the movie/series and what it's offering.

I've only watched one special features disc, for Shaun of the Dead (it had cartoon strips and a few other cool bits). The rest haven't even left the box. Probably the reason I haven't seen one bundled for a while.

Aside from trailers, I very much enjoy to watch the special features in my DVDs. I also specially like to buy the limited editions of movies since they usually come with more and better extras. The last one I bought was Wall-E's. It came in a special box and had tons and tons of extras. So good, man.

I always watch the behind-the-scenes stuff for Horror movies.
Other genres I don't find as interesting. I'm always curious to see how creative make-up artists and props builders get in horror movies.
I absolutely loved the extras on the US uncut version of 'Hatchet'.
LoL gas-fueled belt sander.

I want to watch the extra features and stuff, but by the time I finish watching the movie/eps, I can't be bothered going back. It's especially true for the special commentary stuff where they voice over an ep...I know it's not quite the same, but something inside me feels like ... hey i've watched it already, why am i watching it again so soon.

(Still need to get the 4 in 1 Blu-ray set).I reciently purchased that set based on taking film/video majors at uni (philosophy of film etc), since the bluray films come with 2 commentary tracks. One from philosophers, and one from critics (one group that loved the movies, and one group that didnt so much lol). Its extremely interesting and comes with heaps of bonus features so I would highly recommend checking it out if that kind of stuff interests you.
I usually get around to the special features on my second watch through, or when I need help in design etc. Though some blurays just dont have special features, like Avatar >:( guess you gotta wait for the SUPER SPECIAL AWESOME CHOCLATEY COATED FUDGE PACKING MEGA SUPER EDITION released later this year...

I dont go out of my way to buy 'Special extras packed' DVDs but if its cheap then I might get it. (Any given sunday = AWESOME)
I enjoyed the Extras on the Universal Soldier disc, Interview with Van Damme AND Lundgren, It entertained me! The extras on JCVD were REALLY good too.
I hardly ever listen to Commentary its usually interviews or previews only maybe id watch a music video if its decent but thats it.
