THE THING " not a remake, but a prequel "

To be honest, im not feeling it.
It's gonna have to be REALLY fuckin good to live up the John Carpenter movie.

...this is a joke right, this looks like a remake to me, except with different characters.

Google it... its a god damn prequel it shows what happened to the camp or base
before Kurt Russel and the gang arrives.

I believe you, it's just, UGGGGGG, it used to be prequels would expand on the story, not tell them again. Note: I reserve the right to change my opinion on this once I have seen it.

It's a remake of the prequel (or the original "The Thing from Another World") which John Carpenter's The Thing was losely remaking with his version of the The Thing.
So it's a remake of the original while having the bits and pieces from the other remake? Im fuckin confusing myself here...

I can already hear Xzibit.. We put a remake in yo remake, so you can rewatch the remake without watching the remake.

There's no way it can beat the original. But I'm still planning to check it out.

i'm trying to think positive, clearing some mind...first of all, they will never top the original but i expect them doing it right...second, i will go when it's on theater...

I love "The Thing" to death, but reading about this prequel makes me want to hurl, that being said I'll still check it out. At least I know how the movie is going to end...

I can only see the movie being good if it kept the same level of suspense that the JC version did and use a LOT of physical effects instead of CGI. The amazing use of physical effects made the original both sickening and terrifying. I don't care how good the technology is, you can't make something look more real than an actual creature-puppet made of physical materials and generous amounts of fake blood. That said, I won't blame them if they want to use CGI for some of the more subtle effects or for when the monster has to move around a lot. The latter is the only real disadvantage to using puppets. Sure it'd look real, but it's movement would be awkward, to say the least.

Saw it last Sat.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Still not as good as carpenters but I can tell that the director was inspired by his (carpenters) version and the CGI wasn't too bad. My initial concern was that they wouldn't make the monster gruesome enough but they managed to pull it off and made them nice and grotesque, just the way I like it lol. I never considered the carpenters version so much of a "scary" movie but more of a "shock and awe" movie and this prequel kept a similar theme.

I give it 7/10 tentacles lol
