Very confused...

After looking back at all of the pieces of romance-centred literature that I have read, something began to bother me.
You see, when I read romance manga I must have it end happily. If it ends with one of the lovers being cuckolded, I become enraged; condemning the author to a terrible death.
When I read H manga, though, I actually actively look for stories where a pure-hearted maiden is turned into, well... a "poorman's concubine."
While I do still read vanilla H manga, the aforementioned inconsistency is nagging at my thoughts at the moment.
Can anyone explain this to me?

Your inner desires and higher functions are maintained in literally different parts of your brain. Your duality is more normal than you'd think.

Pretty much ^ what he said. When you read hentai you want dirty but when you read romance you want a romantic ending. Totally normal

Gravity cat
the adequately amused
So basically;
Happens to the best of us, especially Vanillaphiles.
- You love Vanilla, bordering on Vanillaphile.
- You hate NTR, as most Vanillaphiles do.
- Despite the fact that a "romance" manga series you're reading must have a happy ending, you crave and actively find h-manga where a girl is mindbroken into a mindless cumdumpster and are now questioning yourself.
Happens to the best of us, especially Vanillaphiles.

Know that the human brain is essentially 3 separate brains stacked atop one another. At the base is our least evolved brain, nicknamed the reptilian brain. That controls, if I'm not mistaken, subconscious urges like self-preservation, sexual desire, aggression and hunger (as far as craving specific foods for nutritional values). Atop that sits the mammalian brain, which controls the base, yet more evolved, instincts, such as parental attachment, kin-altruism etc, at the peak is the cerebral cortex, the part of the brain that controls your higher functions, it's there that you develop your personality and find your likes and dislikes on a conscious level. Really the duality is a plurality, in which the intermediary mammalian brain simply doesn't apply. Hopefully you found that helpful.

I remember when everyone just enjoyed his/her hentai and didn't bother anyone else with metaphysical questions about their subconscious personalities.

It's no better a question for it, but that's the wrong classification. I'd say it's more of a question that OP wanted a Freudian answer to. Although Freud's psychology has been almost completely abandoned by professional psychologists it's still popular with the general public. Metaphysical questions are those of Voltaire or Descartes, questions of considerably grander significance. For future reference don't attribute an individual's questions of lesser significance to a subject that many great men have worked on. It'd be like attributing a question about biology to quantum theory.

I remember when this guy wasn't posting. I know that done some users are mire more annoying than others, but come on, it's not like he made a thread in IB. I personally thought the question was easily explained and that OP should have easily came to a conclusion either through faculties of reason or through independent research, but it's a legitimate question asked in Random. Annoying people will always exist and periodically make an appearance here, I acknowledge that and I know that I should still answer their questions and share what applicable knowledge I have on the matter with them.
Edited upon reread. Auto-correct seems bent on making me look like an idiot.

You know... I should probably think that way too.

You're a rather nice and polite fellow Medzy, everyone will occasionally get irritated, annoyed or otherwise fall short on patience and I place no fault on you or iMuse. We're all human after all.
