Video card question.

So yeah, I've been rocking a 6800 GS for a long LONG time and figure it is finally time to upgrade. I was just wonder if I should wait a little while and see if AMD is going to drop some 6 series, Nvidia is going to straighten out Fermi, or just get the 5770.
Note: Budget is about 175 dollars. I'm poor ass college student and can't really spend more than that.

Yeah, 5770 is pretty good for that budget. I recommend that card, but one question thou:
You sure you have a PSU for it?
And that your motherboard has PCI-E slot?

Oh yeah I actually just bought a new 620w Antec power supply with newegg shell shocker deal. Was only 55 dollars. And its PCI E not AGP. My motherboard is awesome just wish it had another PCI E slot so I could crossfire some day. Oh well.

It really depends on what you're going to be using it for.
Are you doing graphics design? Rendering? There isn't any need to go out and get a 5770 other than bragging rights if you're not. There isn't a game out there that can push that card to it's peak performance. Granted you wouldn't have to upgrade for a very long time.
I would suggest going with something cheaper so you can have more money leftover, but that's just my opinion. If anything, get more RAM or an i7 processor.

Love that article I read it all the time. My worry is that I'll get it and something a new/better chip set will be released or announced.

It will always happen no matter what you do.
Tech moves fast so unless you expend lots of money you'll never be 100% up to date.
If you constantly hold out you won't be able to upgrade because the next chip that comes around will be superseded by something else so you'll just end up waiting for the next big thing - an endless cycle of waiting.
Bite the bullet, and upgrade if you've already put aside money for it and decided on your card.
