Can you confirm, whether DirectVobSub shows up in the list of filters in the right-click menu?
If yes, check that the filter is set to "Show Subtitles".
If not, you might want to tick, "Autoload VS Filter" on the 2nd screen of the CCCP Settings (it's in Haali Splitter settings).
If that doesn't work, try this:
Launch MPC-HC > Click “View” > Click “Options” > Select “External Filters” > Click the “Add Filter” button > Select “DirectVobSub (Auto-loading version)” > Click “Ok” > On the right hand side, click the radio button for “Prefer” > Click “Ok” > Exit MPC and Restart MPC.
If yes, check that the filter is set to "Show Subtitles".

Tried that first suggestion, as DirectVobSub isn't showing as a filter, even after setting Autoload VS Filter on CCCP Settings.
Let's see if second helps...
Er, tried to find Direct Vob Sub in the Add Filter settings... it's not even among the ones listed. D;

Are you sure you're checking the *External* filter list, not the internal ones?

Quite positive. There isn't even an Internal Filter option! ;;

Sigh... one problem after another. This is why I hate codec packs like K-Lite and company, as they much everything else up by leaving all that debris in the Direct Show system.
Seems like VSFilter (the filter providing Direct Vobsub) hasn't been properly registered. Re-run the CCCP Settings dialog, and tick "Re-Register Filters" on the 2nd page and see if that helps.
Alternatively, if the above doesn't work, you might want to uninstall *every* codec/codec-pack you've installed in the past and reinstall CCCP.

Erm... same way you installed them? Go into the Control Panel --> Add Remove Programs, remove all codec packs you installed in the past?

Ok, I shall uninstall CCCP, as it seems that was the only one I ended up using.

flaser, vlc does play mkvs tho(for me anyway){CCP installed} for vlc the subtitles u hafta rclick the screen then choose subtitles and the file. i don't believe it naturally selects sub files for you.
anyhow, check in the preferences if your video is turned on. i sometimes turn mine off if im working on something. otherwise, flaser seems to be more knowledgable.

It's all good. It was actually quite a tricky fix, but it was done.
