To be honest I'd rather not have any watermarks in my collection but because fakku's watermark are not too obtrusive and the fact that other sites keep ripping translator's hard work pisses me off, I wanted to vote KEEP THEM. I don't know how I mistakenly voted the other choice.
My argument about the author's work vs translator's work is this:
If readers want to read the "English version" (translation), then they have to bear with the watermark, or else they can go learn Japanese and read the "pure" version.
you got tell people that your the ones who did it even if they take it and place on another site ya got claim your work. and they aren't that obtrusive to the works so i say leave them.
Just basically what everyone says, keep the watermark. You guys (and girls, if any) translated all those mangas and deserve credit for it. Your translations are also viewable in other sites so its good to know who the translators are and probably invite new people into the site. Sure there is the author of the manga to acknowledge by but the translators do state who the authors are so there shouldn't be a problem to it. You guys take pride in your translating and you guys share to us. And of course we're very grateful for that. :D So keep the watermark, those who are complaining are just probably people with obsessive compulsive disorders and it bothers them to hell or just people trying to convince you to remove it to steal your own work.
[b]It's been quite some time im on fakku i think from 2007 or something i cant remember :P but i do know that its better to keep it shows proff that its from Fakku
and Fakku alone spent alot of hard time translating for us....and it's also great because keep us alert of anything when or where ever i think it's a Keep um Fakku It's your Right yeah ^_^ no one can take it from..........[b]
dudes just like most of us said KEEP THE WATER MARKS... if you remove them then it would be like not naming a newborn...XD P.S your marks kick ass hardly noticable..
I say we keep them, although we are just a bunch of sick male perverts but again the watermarks are the identity of the mangakas or whatever you call them. Just like how movies always have end credits to credit everyone on the making. If we were to erase this people will be lost to who made this and also be unable to see other works he/she may have done. A possible thing they could do is write their names at the end of each page but again to not do this is the credits. I say we keep them ONLY if they are translated
why remove them it's always a good thing to appriciate thing as they are. it also means that we acknowledge all their work. so i agree to keep the water marks
I did not have the time to read through all the previous replies but here are my thoughts on the issue of watermarks in Fakku's translated works.
I believe the translators, editors and other staff who work on a particular project deserve recognition for their efforts; there are some people out there who have no qualms about stealing the works of others and watermarks would be one way to prevent them from doing so. However, I have also heard negative remarks from members of the hentai community concerning our watermarks, which makes me feel a little disappointed.
Some may say that the opinions of others do not matter, but I do hurt a little when Fakku is placed in negative light. The same can be said in reality, when someone else speaks ill of your family members and/or friends.
At the end of the day, it is up to the staff working on the project to reach a decision.
