Ways to get motivated to do stuff
0
There's already a thread about study methods, so I figured I might as well ask. How do I get motivated to do stuff? I have no problem with motivation If not doing something yeilds negative results. Once I think of what would happen If I failed/didn't do sometging, I can force myself to work. But as soon as I think that nothing will happen either way or that it's no big deal if I fail, it's guaranteed that I won't do anything. Any ideas/advice?

Have a bossy girlfriend that won't let you teach her until you did your stuff. Tits are insanely motivating.

I have a lack of motivation. I just tend get bored, and then go 'fuck it, I'll go do it now'
Which, isn't happening right now.
Although, if I'm really excited for something, I get motivated for it. Ie, if I get some new speakers, I'm usually pretty keen to install them in the car the next morning

I am terrible at getting motivated and the only way I will is when the due date (or whatever) is, like, the next day and I'll be in deep shit if I don't get it done. It's only urgency that motivates me. But if I had someone nagging me or there was a reward I'd probably be more motivated.

I am only motivated to do things when they have a positive impact on myself or the lives of those I care about. Everything else I do is on a whim.

The most motivated I've ever been is when I traveled with my best friend for 30 days on a road trip across America.
30 days away from everything, doing stuff everyday (I had a pushy friend).
At the end of the trip I became motivated to do everything and anything (even stupid things) but then I got back and with nothing to do around this quiet part of town I sunk back into un-activity.
My theory is that if you slink out of your comfort zone and keep doing things for at least two months it becomes a habit. I traveled for 30 days and now it feels unnatural to NOT be traveling, you know?
