what suspense movie can you recommend?

Having trouble picking out suspense flicks from the slash-travaganza of movies that I own/watched.
Shutter Island (no real gore, but it's a total mindfuck)
What Lies Beneath
The Fly (closer to horror than suspense, but it's got gore)
The Shining (a classic)

The Shining (a classic)I agree. It's a fantastic movie, you can't go far too wrong with the suspense in this one.

John Carpenter's The Thing. Epic movie with great effects on the gore. Even compared to today's standards I still feel that current gore doesn't have that awesome feel and effect compared to the oldschool stuff. Personally this is my favorite suspenseful horror movie in the gore genre. I suggest you take a look at this classic film before its "prequel/remake" comes out.

I agree with your recomendation, it certainly is fantastic film.
I haven't seen it for a few years now, I'll have to re-watch that now.

I hesitated on listing that movie because it seemed a little too close to horror than I felt was appropriate. That said, I liked the part where

The Bunker and Kanal.Kanal is filmed in black and white, you might not want to watch it, but the plot is superb.

If you are looking for a fantastic, "edge of your seat" suspenseful thriller, check out black swan. It has a real "mind fuckery" ending too, if you enjoy that sort of plot device.

Let The Right One In has got to be one of the best vampire movies I have ever seen. It's American remake, Let Me In, is also a good watch if you're that hung up over subtitles. Marathon Man has become one of my recent favorites after I finally got to watch the whole thing. Remember the whole "Is it safe?" line? Well, there ya go. A couple of other good suspence movies that I've watched recently are Deliverence (You'll never want to go camping/rafting again/ever), Memento, and Misery.
