As a chinese person, I don't particularly celebrate anything. But everyone in my family gets presents for each other around this time of year, though we don't really wrap them or anything. Also, red envelopes for everyone.

My family celebrates Christmas, but not being a kid anymore means I just ask for cash and let my parents by each other their gifts. I buy gifts for them too if I know what they actually want.

Well even though I am not religious, I do celebrate Christmass. Nowadays very little of the celebration has anything to do with Christianity anyway. (And it was originally a pagan holiday)

I celebrate Christmas. But for me, its about family and actually taking the time to be with them and visit with each other. I don't buy them gifts, (But I do make them cookies, mostly for the kids), and I tell them not to buy me anything. I don't waste money so the holidays don't stress me out, I just plan who I am going to see and when. Christmas has been a much happier time for me since I started doing this 3 years ago. I hate to buy knickknacks, hate getting knickknacks, and I tell my family and friends to forget the gift cards, as if I spent $20 on a gift card for them, and they did the same for me, it just shows we don't know enough about each other to give real gifts, and we should have just kept the $20 in our pockets. Yep, Christmas is much more enjoyable for me now.... I can only hope the world don't end before next year. lol

I celebrate christmas simply due to tradition since I'm atheist.
You know, atheists should really come up with their own winter holiday, everyone else has one. You know, a nice neutral holiday for gift giving, the appreciation of friends and family, and the spreading of goodwill and important social lessons in the world, without any ties to any religion or social group. I get so annoyed when right wing Christians bitch at me for celebrating 'their' holiday without being actually christian myself. I'm like "yeah, thanks guys, really showing off that whole 'kindness to your fellowman and goodwill to all' thing".
so yeah, just something I could celebrate in all of my non-diety/spirit/ideology worshiping self without anyone being able to try and make me feel bad about it would be nice. *chuckles* maybe i'll put that in my christmas wishlist next year

Festivus: Although the first Festivus took place in February 1966, as a celebration of the elder O'Keefe's first date with his future wife, Deborah.
Newtonmas: As an alternative to celebrating the religious holiday Christmas, some atheists, skeptics, and other non-believers have chosen to celebrate December 25th - the birthday Newton shares with Jesus Christ - as Newtonmas. Celebrants send cards with "Reasons Greetings!" printed inside, and exchange boxes of apples and science-related items as gifts. The celebration may have had its origin in a meeting of the Newton Association at Christmas 1890 to talk, distribute gifts, and share laughter and good cheer.
