Why is it that a lot of people...

...think that something is Chinese just because it's Asian? People always say that kinda shit to me.
"Oh, you like them uhh, Chinese Cartoons?"
And I'll be all like, "Huh? You mean anime?"
I've even gotten a bit of criticism that shit from my own father. He'll say, "Why is it you like reading those backwards Chinese books?"
Come on. My damn Great-Grandmother even knew what I meant when I told her,
"Yeah, I like this thing called anime.."
She said,
"Ohh, you mean those Japanese shows with the characters with the crazy lookin' hair?"
That was the closest thing I've ever heard to a correct response about anime & mangas. I suppose I just obsess a bit too much or what, but it gets offensive after a while. And after I correct them, they usually retort with,
"Well what's the difference between Chinese and Japanese?"
C'mon. That's like asking "What's the difference between Africans and Jamaicans?"
or
"What's the difference between Mexicans and Brazilians?"
There's a huge damn difference. Think about it. Get educated.
It just offends me so because it really is something I enjoy, and it gets annoying when people are saying shit about it shitting all over the idea.
So that's just my thought on the subject. What are yours? Do people say the same things to you? Does it offend you, even slightly? I want to see how you feel about it.

To lotsa uneducated people, Asia = China. All they see are Asians, chopsticks, hieroglyphics, and panda bears. I used to find it somewhat offensive but eventually I stopped giving a shit unless there was some heavy discrimination going on. Nowadays I just feel sad for the person's unenlightened self.

I also feel sorry for them as well. A lot of people surprise me with their stupidity.

If you ever meet someone who has "Goldberg" in their name, say, "You know, I never forgave you Jews for sinking the Titanic."
"That was an iceberg"
"Iceberg, greenberg, goldberg, what's the difference?"

My step-father is pretty much like that. A big redneck living in the Northeast. He calls them all "chinks," which always makes me angry.

I occasionally crack chink jokes and a faux Chinese English accent albeit being of Asian descent myself but truly I believe the boundary of inconspicuous ignorance should not be tolerated so in short, preach death to anyone who compares us to the damn Chinese or relate the beauty of our literature and art such as anime and manga to china.

Well, it probably doesn't matter all too much to them. If they don't care about it then people generally will not take the time out to know the differences. Doesn't bother me all too much though. I know the difference, and that's all that really matters to me. If someone gets it wrong, I educate them (in...so many words). If they don't want to hear it, fuck 'em. Not going to bug me one way or another.

that's why i hang around friends that share my interest of anime/manga/gaming/ etc.
and keep to myself when watching anime and switch tabs when they come in, once even my mom came in forced me to switch back to a tab and mistook it for porn and her response was "Is this some twisted cartoony porn???" so i had to explain... it was so weird -__- , luckily my sis reads manga so she understands,

So like.. I'm Asian, right? Am I Chinese? Nope. And lol at some of you guys. I don't even know why you guys hide the fact that you watch anime or whatever from friends, etc. What's so wrong with that?

Genetically speaking all asians came from the Mongoloid sub race of humans that adapted their looks and psychical attributes when they left Africa and settled in what was know a eastern Eurasian(China and India). All Asians can trace there line from one Chinese ancestor. Plus china was the largest population and the first commonly know asians to come to here... plus good food.

Never came across anyone like that before. But if they did say it, I probably think the same thing to. Does it offend me when they categorize me under Chinese? Somewhat... I just correct them. Then I categorize them and they get mad.

In the end we are all human. dumbass's think all hispanics are either mexican or puerto rican, black people are africans , asians are chinese , middle easterns are paki, inidian, etc and white people are racist. You know what pisses me off the most? When motherfuckers use the word "Race" to describe someone different then them. How about i cut some of you up? to show you we're all the same in the inside.
