Why is vomit taboo in kids cartoons
0
Hello mates.
I wonder why vomit is rarely seen in kids cartoons. You see the character is vomiting but you never see the vomit. I don't get it.
Every child can get sick once in a while and may vomit. What's the point?
Do they think the audience would be so disgusted that one or the other might start to barf?
Or is it a moral code or something?

I wouldn't call it taboo, it's just unpleasant to look at, like someone taking a shit. Do you want to see the vomit? I know I don't.

When I see vomit I start to vomit a little myself. But that's for real life. I'v seen vomit in some cartoons but it did't really affect me that much. I just cringed.
Still, I wouldn't want to see it in cartoons, or anywhere for that matter.

I dunno, it's just kind of gross. It's not like it adds much or is totally necessary, the point is still made.

First thing that comes to mind.
Though you mentioned kids cartoons. So I think the video's irrelevant.

If you had refrained from adding the word «kids» in the title and my answer would be longer and perhaps more comprehensive. Cartons like Family Guy are not for kids so vomit is frequently shown in comedic ways for, guess what, comedic purposes. I have not seen kids cartoons since I was a kid (I would say 'obviously' but that might ruffle some feathers) but I don't see the point in it. Kids wouldn't want to see it, it wouldn't add anything to the character nor to the story.

But I saw one or the other cartoon where vomit is shown in a kids cartoon.
In one kids cartoon series a kid was vomiting in the end of the opening(!)
I don't remember the title anymore. Kids in that series are blockheads.
Kids wouldn't want to see it, ...
Are you sure? When I was a kid, whenever I saw vommit in a kids cartoon I was like
"HAHA look at that".
Unless it would look liket that

Just because you happen to want to see it and, granted, maybe you aren't the only one in the world to do so, doesn't mean that kid cartoon producers should conduct a survey with the objective of figuring out how many kids want to see vomit.

Vomit is usually used for comic effect in cartoons, but seeing the vomit isn't really that hilarious, the act itself and the sounds they make are usually enough for cartoons.
