Been using Windows 7 for 4-5 months now, and I even played some VERY old VNs in this OS.
Windows 7 is basically Windows XP with Vista's visuals.

Everything should work. If you get either professional or ultimate, you can run xp mode. The name is self-explanatory.
As a techie, please feel free to ask more questions ^_^
If you need help choosing a laptop, I can really help you there. Note buying one from a major retailer like best buy=ripping yourself off.

Ok Im choosing between two laptops:
first one 10k
HITACHI
40gb HD
512 RAM
Pentium 4
XP
second 19.5k
ASUS
160gb HD
2GB
DUAL CORE
Windows7
Should I go the extra mile of 19.5k or just go for the cheaper one?I'm gonna use it for gaming/VN/net but I'm an I.T. student so I could use the second one studying and work.

1st one is absolute shit, 2nd one is also shit, but better quality shit.
And what kinda of currency are you using?

You're getting seriously the fuck ripped off from wherever it is you're buying those computers. If by 10k and 19.5k you mean 10,000 pesos and 19,500 pesos that's a shit load of American USD. 19,500 pesos is $1500 worth of USD which would buy a computer that would max the graphics of any game. Where are you buying those terrible computers for so much? My advice, go to a bank and have your 19,500 pesos converted into USD and order from America.

I'm not exactly sure what the exchange rate is, but if its really 45pesos=1dollar, then do what animeholic says. You can get WAY better laptops from some US vendors.
Here's a couple that I would recommend that will ship to mexico. Of course, this is considering the exchange rate.
$1300 US dollarshttp://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5592727&Sku=A50-15617
$800 US dollarshttp://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6241357&Sku=G180-17010
Both feature incredible graphic cards, good memory, and good cpu's, but the expensive one is better by far.

I though you were talking about the Mexican peso. Well, 19,500 Philippine pesos only amount to $420 American USD. While that certainly won't buy the amount of power that you could get for $1300, it will get you a deal from America that is better than those computers you mentioned before. Since you never wanted anything too powerful to begin with and if shipping seems too much of a hassle just go with that Windows 7 machine you mentioned earlier. It won't play any 3D game like Sexy beach, but it will play an 2D Visual Novel no problem.
I am not too sure on the matters of shipping. I know that a site like Bestbuy does not do international shipping, but you can purchase a product from them through a site like Bongo and then Bongo will ship the product you bought from Bestbuy to you. See what I mean by the hassle?

Tigerdirect ships to the philippines, but the ones I gave you are way too far off.
Here's a couple I would recommend that should be within your price range. Its in US dollars because I'm too lazy to convert. Of course, shipping costs (dunno how much) is not included in the price.
$410 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6077158&Sku=S445-150056
$500 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6089879&CatId=17
These two are virtually the same, except the 500 dollar one has blu-ray. A blu-ray drive for an extra $90 is a steal, so I thought I'll put it up. Note the $410 is refurbished, if that's an issue to you.
Btw, both of these can play 3d games just fine (don't know sexy beach requirements so I can't say anything about that). Just at minimum settings (it hurts to see games played like this, but what can you do).

Not mine.
Consider this: my computer is specs are still in the level of High-End (actually, over, way over) in PC Gamer's Hard Stuff Trinity.
@topic: Specs.. old shit.
Have you tried checking Acer, MSI and such? I hear they have pretty good laptops for less.
Though if you do have money like I do, I'd always go for Dell or HP.

Plus not all of the people who sell laptops/desktops here have any knowledge about each part; they just tend to see that higher price = better performance.
Ah yeah back to the topic, like ExESGO said, search for acer, MSI, etc.
Prefer acer, Asus, and MSI though.

Gateway isn't all that bad. You get quite a bit of bang for your buck if you go with them. I would personally recommend a Toshiba though, I've never had any issues with my old one and if you have the money you can get a damn good machine. Alienware is the way to go if you're looking for something very high end. Though their top-of-the-line computers average around $2500-$3000 dollars.
