Don't get me wrong, I hope Germany thrash Ghana and England. We scored two goals and played with barely any spirit at any point during the group stages, where teams like the USA battled and battled with less talent to get through. We don't deserve to go very far and I prefer the German approach (plus I like Germany anyway :P).

It's gonna be hilarious if Australia actually goes through.

Anyway, I'll admit I'm not that huge of a soccer (football) fan, but it is interesting to watch.

I was ready to make a self-denial post if the US didn't advance but wow. I feel bad for the Algerians getting denied their attempt at the corner kick near the end but we also had another goal stolen by a bad call so it would've evened out. Hopefully all these bullshit calls will stop with the advancement to the next round. Just finished watching it off of ESPN3.com. I hope that site picks up and starts streaming everything for free as its really convenient.

Great game, not as aggressive as Germany VS Serbia, but still. Ghana was one of the better teams and Germany and Ghana are now entering the quarter finals.

Germany will play against the UK next. This is gonna be fun.

Man, those are gonna be some great games. England has it a bit though. They'll probably have to Argentina even if they get past the Germans. What a difference a goal makes. In contrasts, the US only has to deal with Ghana and Uruguay/Korea to reach the semifinals.

However, with that being said, New Zealand has already surpassed all expectations by drawing with Slovakia and furthermore, the 2006 World Champions, Italy. I am quite sure everyone expected them to be the whipping boys of their group before the start of the tournament.

I would also like to see another Asian team in the round of 16, which will most probably be Japan. Go Japan go too!

WOW. The last twenty minutes of Italy vs Slovakia were like the one of the most tense and best moments of the World Cup so far.

Slovakia won, 3-2, and Italy was disqualified.

With especially tense BGM of Ever 17 playing on my computer (I was playing it until I began watching), the last moments of the match were gems, definitely.
