Would life better if it was different? small differences
-1
this is my first topic so go easy on me! plz
when i read this it really put a question in my mind. "should people change the way they live or the way they think and act upon others?"
im more of a quiet person so i don't like talk much to people, so i think that im fine now but if everything changed, would I?

Maybe you should have developed your point a bit more but I think you are getting at a open Ethics discussion. Ethics being the branch of Philosophy that concerns itself with the existencial crisis of the individual and then with finding the best way to live. Sooner rather than later, people realize they are social creatures and Politics branches off of Ethics. I could go on and on about this, people are more than free to disagree obviously (and some do) but it's the way I see it.
Having said that, yes, I think life would be better and should change. Not randomly though. I defend something not all philosophers like which is Pragmatism. Basically, it means that whatever belief or philosophy any given person might have, the only true way to know whether it's true or false is to take action with it. For example, if you believe in God, you might as well pray and the outcome of that action should tell you something about your belief. It works the same way with every single thought turned into action.
So, in conclusion, yes, people should change everything that needs changing. We are intelligent enough to predict when things might turn bad and what we should do to improve them. I think it is a sign of, not just stupidity but also insanity to cling to something past its expiration date after realizing that thing is simply wrong.

(not saying we're not at equal faults)
(if i could restate my question earlier.)
if you could change one thing in this world what would it be?
think of it in a more historic way like, what if hitler won, the world would be under a dictator's rule but humans would be more advance.

I take on the mind set of, "could've, should've, would've, and move on". There are some things I wish I could have done differently, but I don't regret them. I just learn from my mistakes and move on with my life. I look at Steins;Gate as a good example on this (and a lot of other time travel films), you change one small thing and the future changes for better or (usually) for the worse.

what i was leaning toward is more like. "what if the wheel never existed?" and build on it and think and keep thinking. like a butterfly effect! or something like "what if Alphonce was the big brother and edward was the younger brother?"
just small differences that could change the way we EVERYTHING. our fan bases, nations, thoughts, actions, technology, religion everything. with just a little push!

I get what your saying, but my theory still applies. I view the idea of changing events in the past as creating a new time line. When you affect something then you invetibly create a whole new universe with a whole new set of rules. The only reason I don't think I would because I believe in the notion of, "everything comes with a price".
For instance, if I decided to tweak the me of the past to have more drive to pass my classes for college (or just give me answers to the tests I failed). Then I may never have met my boyfriend and I never want to change something like that for the world.
Even theoretically I don't wish to change any event for myself or others, because there would have to be a price of some kind to balance out the effect of what I am changing.
If you haven't seen Steins;Gate or read/watched A Sound of Thunder, I would recommend them to you!

Yay another Who fan!! I even thought this had a Dr. Who sort of feeling to this lol. I hope you get more people to answer this since it is a good topic. Mine is just one opinion.
I also think since you metioned Dr. Who that there is a different between what is meant to happen and things that are not meant to happen and affect the universe. Dr Who is an alien and is not apart of our world, so anything he changes will not affect his view of the world. Even if he forms relationships with life forms on our planet by messing with the past, he could end up changing the relationship he had with people (even to the point where they didn't know him. The only thing he is worried about is affecting the universe in such a way that there is a paradox that would destory the fabirc of space and time. Most of the things that Dr Who does affect are not fixed points in time, but there are things that he does that wind up becoming fixted points because he was meant to create/do them.
I find the show to be fascinating quite honestly and I hope that the new doctor does a good job since I am an avid fan of the series.

Well, we might be in disagreement here because I'm an atheist. I'm not sure if you are religious or not but, since I don't want to drag the discussion there, let's just say that religious education is one of the paths to atheism.
When it comes to Hitler, I think the most important thing would be if he hadn't started the Holocaust. Stephen Fry talks about this and his point is that, in that case, scientists wouldn't start migrating from Germany to the USA so, sooner rather than later, Nazi Germany would be in possesion of the first nuclear bomb. I have no idea how that would turn out but it's certainly a scary thought.

I wouldn't change a thing in this world.
True. Bad, evil things happen and it sucks. But it's not a utopia. If I change one thing, some other bad thing will happen. "Would life be better?" is also a bad question. Since something that did good to my life might have done bad to someone else's.
Life in its entirety is complicated, man. And problems in this life are inevitable. But I do understand how people want to change something that happened. But it might or might not be better if it didn't happen. It's hard to see what is better.
"The meaning of her life--like the meaning of any life--is a maddeningly ambiguous question shrouded in uncertainty." - John Green
A favorite quote of mine to show the complexity of our existence and consciousness.

The past isn't something you should want to change. What defines us us and our surroundings are our experiences regardless of whether they were good or bad. Everyone has had a time were they wished for change, but if we take away all those moments; if we lived our lives without a single misfortune, how would we be able to live? Every smile you make; Every tear you shed; Every time you wished the earth would just swallow you whole. Those moment are the ones that make you, YOU.
The world we live in challenges us and pushes us to our limits. If theres a world out there without misfortune, then that's not the kind of world I want to live in.

what would life be like if the sky was a wall instead of an atmosphere, however there still is light like a sun and it doesn't affect the air pollution?
