Unless you have more than 1 sentence then this is not a serious discussion. Just edit your post about the article.

After skimming and reading closely in some area's in the NDAA that passed House and Senate, and then reading the Statement by the President. It really really sounds like Obama was forced into signing this; like he was thinking "God damn it, this really needs reworking but I need a re-election so please don't bite me in the ass until next November." I would imagine refusing to sign a military centered bill in the US will kill his re-election chances.

Maybe this is a little jacked up, but I would still rather elect Obama, on this issue alone.
He would put me against the wall for crossing him. The entire GOP field would do it, just for shits and giggles. (Besides Paul, he'd do it because he's a white supremacist.)
(Oh, and it's proper to at least COMMENT on the article you point us at. I don't know about others, but my configuration is too complicated to just click shit, willy nilly.)

How far in the dark are we American's kept? This is insane, in my opinion. Anything that has to do with the reduction of rights of Americans is just bad. And increasing the spending of the military, is wasteful. The Military already gets a huge percentage of the National Budget. I have to agree that it is high time for change to happen in the US. The Democrats and Republicans are too busy bickering between themselves, to know what this country really needs.

The article itself doesn't seem to be arguing anything; it's just accusing him of signing a document without actually describing the contents of it. Considering that 1) they show complete outright bias in their first sentence and 2) it's on a website about occupy Wall street... yea.
As for the act itself, it's not going to do much. People make a big deal out of everything that goes through Congress, but the truth is, if it can pass through Congress, it's obviously not that big of a deal; those damned representatives can never agree on anything that truly matters.

On topic: As much as I am appalled by the passing of this abomination I can't help but, feel that the American people are getting what they deserve. The apathy, ignorance and downright complacency of the American people towards the body politic has allowed this to occur. Now you're stuck with a police state that enforces it's popularity abroad with the lives of service men and women who joined because they wanted to give something back. A police state that is deeply in debt to the tune of 15 trillion dollars. A police state with a dwindling middle class, growing poverty rates (FYI, poverty rates haven't been adjusted in over 20 years hence why statistics appear better than they are). You allowed the political class to pit you against your fellow Americans by dividing you into groups based on ridiculous labels. The Rich vs The Poor, Whites Vs Minorities, etc, etc when you're all fucking Americans and should have thought of them as Americans first and foremost. No, by playing their games you allowed the political class to deprive you of your rights under whatever godawful excuses you could think of. Allowed the political class to deprive you of the only real means to protecting your rights that you had. Allowed the political class to sell you, your family, your friends into economic slavery to multinational corporations and banks.

It may just be political pandering, but during his rise to power, Ron Paul has catered to several extremist groups on right. His personal writings (or, articles "published under his name" as the campaign claims) show overt and covert racism and anti-semitism.

He is still my second, in this election, but it was really just a dumb joke.
(Second on policy basis. He shares the same separation of power and imperialism ideals I have.)
Lighten up.

I haven't given up hope. Until they throw me against the wall, I am prepared to fight for the change my people need. (My people, as in Cascadia. A cultural subgroup, not a racial one.)
The real query is reform or revolt?

EZ-2789: Regardless of where the news is broken, it's a matter to be considered. Everyone is biased; hence FPoD's reaction to my Paul joke, and my pessimist's optimism.

This bill was 565 pages, making reading or significant amendment prohibitive, and presented under the guise of "national security." NO congressman wants to be seen as "that guy who supports terrorism."

It is completely within our right to revolt as well. The country itself was founded on the principle that a nation should be allowed to decide and act upon whether or not it believes its government to be truly representative of its people.
But I agree, reform is the much preferred option. Lord knows that we don't need another Revolutionary War to re-establish our government. We just need to worry about putting the right people into place.

You used a common misunderstanding that is often used by ignorant people to claim that Dr. Paul is a racist as a "joke". I'm not sure where the "joke" was but, forgive the misunderstanding.
Honestly, I'm leaning towards revolt but, I know it's futile, so I vote reforms. I view the majority of Congress as traitors to this country. I believed they should be arrested, tried and preferably executed accordingly. These men and women took an oath to uphold the constitution and all they have done is shit on it from day one. Concerned more about getting reelected and maintaining their positions of power rather than doing their jobs. Meanwhile the American people are scrapping by, getting hours cut at work, losing jobs, giving up their dreams while 47% of congress are millionaires.
These people are modern day Romanov's and should see the same fate.

Your main point, though, is that we need new people in Congress, right? 'Cause I completely agree with that. I may not share your views on punishing those currently in it, but I certainly agree with your belief that the current Congress most definitely does not hold the nation's social and economic well-being as the priority.
We have the power to do it, though. It may seem immature to reduce to something so simple, but voting in different representatives and senators into Congress, ones that actually embody our views and our needs, may, at the very least, be a good first step.

Corruption is like a cancer. You have to remove the entire mass otherwise you're simply wasting your time. So for voting to work, you would have to vote out 99% of congressmen and women. Changing just a few congressmen leaves the majority of the cancer cells to infect and ruin the new cells. If you remove the majority of the cancer you still have a few cells that will try to create new cancerous cells.
The only way to stop it is to completely remove the tumor. That is the problem, the majority of Americans think their congress reps are doing a great job and won't vote them out.

Voting for a "representative" or a "senator" that shares our views? I agree with Fiery: Preposterous! What do you think we've been doing for the last 50 or so years? From the FDR Administration "We will NOT be involved in WW2!" Five years later, we created the Nuke and at that our poorous security allowed the USSR Empire to gain nuclear technology, well done! Or how about Presidents Johnson, Nixon and the First Bush! Through the late 60's-to-the late 80's was the beginning of the advent into the Middle East/Eurasian areas. But wait, wasn't President Clinton our savior? Well, really the only difference being the longevity of the Yugoslavia conflict and the ushering of the NAFTA (North American Fucked Up the Ass agreement) I'd say no, not really. We were just living in the Pre-NAFTA stages, times that would be short lived and we'd later appreciate.
We know the rest: Eight years of Bush Jr.'s inept administration and now this administration, violating civil laws and liberties and having a hawkish foreign policy, under the guise of so-called talks and diplomacy.
We've voted democratic and republican the world over! We've been to left, right, center and it has granted us, the
American People absolutely nothing.
And even now, should we elect Ron Paul, the lot might think change has FINALLY come to America! That's undergoing several assumptions, namely: Congress, which the American People so despise will they, are they capable of changing it. Do they even realize to the tiniest extent possible that their problems are political in nature and can only be solved through political reform?(IE: Neither of the two parties are any acceptable at this point.)
You can elect Ron Paul, but if you think that's all there is to it, then as I theorized the "rebirth" of the Republic will die quicker than the first time around.

With such a bleak view of our government, the only remedy I see is overthrow of the current regime. Setting up another one, even using the same structure, would be a total drain on the country, so we're still royally screwing ourselves over.
I guess the problem, since the beginning, is that we were content with letting these people play their games as long as it didn't affect us too much. By the time we realized what they were doing, it was too late to peacefully get things back on track. And now we find ourselves exactly where we are, having to choose between turning our backs on the government again or grabbing it by the neck and demanding our rights back.
I just wanna go back to playing GTA, if that's the case. At least I can still live the American dream there.

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"
So, even if we were to complete remove congress and replace them, would this solve our problems? What must change to fix the structure of our government? I support Ron Paul, and he could save the executive branch, but It won't fix the rest of the government

It would be insane to expect Congress to change by leaving the same people there. It's not insane to expect Congress to change if an entirely new group of people were to be put in their place.
That's assuming we're in a perfect world where everyone will vote for people different than those they usually go for in the next election or two.
