It means your an alien... That colorful light you saw from the muceus was really the essence of your soul breaking. If you don't return to your homeworld soon your soul will eventually disolve and you'll die.
...but in all seriousness I don't truly see what your asking. The common cold is not an essense is it? Its the label for an ailment... You get congestion when you have a cold but you don't get common cold when you get a common cold :)

He means either the sputum or the sinus drainage shit. Rainbows are all about refraction and reflection of light. It doesn't really mean anything if you see a rainbow in something you coughed up when you had a cold.

don't worry, it's normal. seeing rainbow on your spit doesn't really mean you have a terrible disease. well... if that's the only thing you're experiencing then you're fine. besides, the reason your spit is showing off a rainbow is because of the sunlight. like looking at a puddle of water, it also shows a rainbowish color.
you said a "a month" now? I once had it for 2 months yet i'm still alive.
anyways, get well soon.

I don't think you have any major disease. I think you should be fine. Just take some NyQuil maybe.

I hope you've been rid of your cold by now. I always thought the best way to get rid of the cold was to inverse your sleeping pattern (sleep as much as you normally stay up, so for me, 16 hours of bed rest & 8 hours of activity) and drink a LOT of juice. The vitamin C helps recovery, you're taking in fluids, and it tastes good.

Still if you've been affected by this Cold for a month and starting to have chest Pains. You should definitely get it checked up on.

I'm fairly sure the average person can beat the common cold in at most a week, especially if the person is aware of their illness and makes some attempt to rid themselves of it, which it seems like you have.
This doesn't sound like a common cold, unless your immune system is really shot, or you've been staying up for 20 hours a day for the past two months.
My guess is chronic bronchitis? I don't know; not a medical major. But I've had that in the past, and it's mild relative to standard bronchitis, so you can deceive yourself into thinking it's not serious, and it lasts for a LONG time. I had this thing for four months, and that's even with going to a doctor after two weeks. Though all he gave me were thing that reduced the symptoms instead of doing any curing (was viral).
Hope it's not that and just a REALLY nasty cold. Get better soon~
