The question is, did Shinji(the creator) do the right thing as alienating all anime lovers by making them pay for memberships whilst parts of the world can no longer watch the anime they want? No, i see where he was coming from in doing it, but i still disagree, once it all became pay, i just stopped using the site.

I hate Crunchyroll. I lost half of the animes I wanted to watch this season because of CR >< Most important is Shin Koihime Musou and Letter BeeIronbootdong wrote...
I don't use crunchytroll. >.> I'm just complaining that they licensed them so other sub groups can't do it. (I hate crunchysubs x.x ... all the HnG!! eps I watched always had this big window up during the OP advertising another website)Except other groups are still doing it. So even if CR is blocking your country from watching the stuff you want to see, you still have other options. They might be just ripping the subs, but it's not like there aren't groups releasing HD videos with the subs.

Crynchyroll is a alright idea as far as business models go, but of course the way it has been done is ridiculous.
Not only are the subs so insanely WRONG 99% of the time, they punish free users with ads and limitations almost as bad as even rapidshare.
If you look around their forums and random premium users you realize they're nothing but kids under 16, and mostly asians from singapore and other country's like it strangely.
Makes you wonder what the heck is going on with it...

Agreed about the exagerating bit. its all still free. You just wait a week to watch the newest episodes and even the limiter is mostly removed by becoming a member. just a normal member and not a paying one. I go there from time to time and hit the limit inda fast and as such am forced to log in so i can keep going. I think CR is doing great things for us.

I tried watching an anime on CR with a free account but they said I have to wait 7 days or upgrade to an anime member to watch it -.-
I think they're just like any other fansub group except....some times worse translations and a bigger pain in the ass

You want a cat?
It's dead, and it's really a possum, but it's free!!
/end analogy
Forget all that, it doesn't change how subpar they are with the subs.... I'm sorry but if you watch most any show on there it's just ridiculous with how wrong the lines are. It's like gg's speedsubs without the excuse of, well....being speedsubs....

CR use to be my top site for Asian Movies and Anime. I also Enjoyed the Forums there. Once it made the major changes and dropped half its shows and Movies I Dropped CR!!
I have not been there since!
Personally i think it was not the best of moves to start slapping Prices on stuff and Deleting half of the stuff on the site, but thats my opinion.

I used to go crunchyroll for anime, I remember watching Clannad [TV] on crunchyroll.
Now I just google for streaming anime websites. Just type the anime name, episode and streaming.......piece of cake.

Crunchyroll is completely useless to people who don't watch anime online. For me, like myself, who only downloads it, such a site may as well not exist. I wonder if Shinji ever thought about that.

What I'm saying is, Crunchyroll is a business, and it has this attitude that says that it should be where all people get anime, because it's legal, but that's bullshit, because a lot of people only download anime, for all sorts of reasons. For example, I love being able to watch anime without having to worry about a browser getting in the way, and I hate when the video is blurry or small, as it often is on streaming sites. If Crunchyroll, and the companies supporting it, really wants to get people to stop downloading fansubs, they should make their shows downloadable.
